If you could help get a bit of info on the games and update the message boards then I'm sure a lot of the assumptions will be cleared up. Any reporting you could get on the forums will help shape a picture of exactly where these teams stand. I'm not sure if you have the capacity to do that, but I think it could help the voters clear up the GRLC.

I am not closely tied to any team, although I am affiliated with the conference as a whole. Call me a GRLC superfan, since my experiences with the GLLL left a lot to be desired. I have great respect and admiration for a number of the programs in the conference, so I do my best to support them as a whole

I know that much of the issues I'm talking about now will be taken care of on the field. But that does not excuse some of the perceived ineptitude by some of the current voters.

On plus note, I do plan on heading to Augustana later this year to watch the Augustana/Grand Valley State/ UW- Eau Claire weekend. If all those teams live up to the hype, it could potentially be one of the most important weekends for D2 this season. Hopefully I'll be able to relay some pertinent stats to someone.

Anywho, I know I've been banging my head into a wall for the past three days, so I'm gonna stop now. Hopefully everything gets sorted out for the next poll.

I had the chance to see Augustana last year and unless they reloaded heavily (coaching and players), I do believe that Eau Claire is a better team. I kinda feel like Augustana is still riding a little bit of the 2006 season with the great run they had to Texas (when they came out of nowhere). But i guess that is why they play the games, to prove old men like me wrong.........

I was their that weekend too. I think it was Augustana, Southwestern, St. Johns, and Carnegie Mellon....Anywho, they got absolutely slaughtered by SJU and CMU. I don't know if it was opening weekend jitters, or just playing against 3 tough opponents after practicing inside for an entire winter, but they looked terrible that weekend.
On a more positive note,I had a chance to see them play two more times later on in their season, and they looked like a completely different team. Not making excuses for them, but maybe a reason for the whooping they got.
Anywho, I hope all three of the teams (Eau Claire, Augustana, and Grand Valley State) live up to all the hype, so the games are worth watching.

I'm not voting this season, but it's tough to rank teams that haven't played any games. The preseason poll has teams all at zero games, essentially adjusted to perceived graduation & incoming talent. Now several teams haven't played games, but everyone around them is moving. It's tough to keep hold of a number when teams are showing their strengths/weaknesses around you. Those first few polls especially have some big jumps as voters adjust for the strength of conferences, but I wouldn't worry about poll 1. If Augustana & DePaul come out winning, you'll probably see big jumps as voters are putting them back in their polls. If a team hasn't played a game, & isn't in the top 10, they should be happy they are still in this first poll. There's lots of shuffling outside of that. You could make the argument that if they haven't played a game yet, they shouldn't be ranked in the 2008 polls when they haven't played a game in 2008 (I'm not endorsing it, but it's easily possible). It's been said, but it's all speculation for these teams. When they win/lose & move in strange directions, lets talk about it, but small shifts early, whatever.
