too much?

sue me.

ps - the play on rule on a flag down is NOT subjective.

Parker,

Why don't you get in touch with them. I'm sure they would love to have you in the booth for the U game since you know both teams pretty well.

Then we'll get to see how good YOU are in the booth. That would be fun!

Kind of off-topic, but I just got satellite yestereday and one of the channels is BYUTV! Does anyone know if they have any more games being broadcast? It'll be nice watching on a 50" plasma vs my little computer monitor!

wingman3227 wrote:You make a good point about the way games were played and the schedule prior to the game, however, I have to disagree with you a little here. In order to win our National Championship a team will have to win four quality games in five days. So it works out that the team that has the most is in the best shape while maintaining the top level of talent wins the championship.

You have a lot of good points, but you can't really use the National Championship in your argument because when teams face each other, they've played the same amount of games in the same number of days, whereas a mid-season situation may have a fresh team playing against a team coming off a few games. And perhaps yes, the ASU win should be viewed as that much more impressive.

I will take this one...a weak NCAA team is a team in Division 2 that is not ranked inside the top ten. Although it has been stated by some on this post that teams like Bentley and Southern New Hampshire are quality opponents, that is not the case.

These "weak" NCAA teams will still beat 97% of MCLA teams all the time. FSU deserves to be 8-10, but certainly shouldnt drop to as low as 15 like some people suggest.

I'm sorry, but honestly, I think you have no idea what you are talking about. SNHU in the last couple years has been nationally ranked, had a 1st team all american, multiple all conference players, and gone deep in the NE 10 tournament. Right now both of these two teams have just started conference play, and their 'mediocre' standings right now is due to OOC games, this will change after conference play is done. Even, and this is a stretch, if you got me to agree they were 'weak' by NCAA standards, they are still absolutely not weak by MCLA standards. I am not defending the fact that these games should or shouldnt be used as poll reasoning for FSU, but I am just bothered by the fact that you can make such a brash statement on teams you haven't even seen.

Didn't NDNU beat BYU handily and they aren't top 10 D2...that doesn't really fit the "Not in top 10 = Week" comparison.

I undestand that the SELC doesn't wish to be coined "weak" conference, but for all intents and purposes it hasn't shown to be a "power" conference. And until it becomes a "power" conference you don't get to move and stay up in the polls by winning just in your conference. I understand that they are playing DII teams and that is all good and well, but it doesn't let us compare them against the top teams in the league and until they do schedule a top 10 schedule they won't be in the top 10. Florida State is a good team, don't get me wrong, but a top 10 team worthy of an At-large if they don't win their league, I don't know. I couldn't see myself voting 2 teams into the national tournament from the SELC. The only conference where I can see multiple teams right now are: RMLC, WCLL, CCLA (if Michigan doesn't win the AB), and maybe UMLL (if Minnesota-Duluth doesn't win the AB), other than that it is one and done.

Comparision to the NCAA is a far flung thought process at best. -

D2 is something I do know a tad about and I can only say that although I have great respect for all teams and leagues you have to understand the NE and D2 at its very core. Yes there are some extremly talented teams. LeMoyne NYIT and others that play an amazing game. Just as in any league there are also the teams that still are building and in some situations whole conferences that are still growing and have yet to knock on the Door.

It is best in any discussion to attempt to leave the fact points to more tangible items and not go far afield as this has done. As for Wingman I can assure you his understanding of D2 is quite accurate and is based on some hard evidence. Lets get back to the polls and comparing MCLA teams based on MCLA play. I say check back with me in 6 weeks and I will tell you the exact ranking each team should have had today and Iwill be 100 percent accurate.
No matter the gender, no matter the league, they play with heart they deserve respect

Time for an ice cold beverage. I'll go grab my state of the art CollegeLAX Koozie. It will do the trick.

Neither has Sonoma, for that matter.

Well, not that it matters, but NDNU has 3 losses on the year, two of which were to Mercyhurst and NYIT, the top two teams in D2.

They took NYIT to the brink and lost by 1 in the final minutes of play. I think it is safe to say that NDNU has a good team, despite being unranked. BYU played well against them, but NDNU put the game out of reach in the 4th quarter.

Parker,

I am no Pete Stevenson, but maybe you could consider me a poor mans Craig Bolerjack. I do believe the play on rule is subjective, as if I had to remind you of that after harping about it on every broadcast. In the Colorado game it worked in the Cougars favor. Next time they wont be so lucky.

I fully support you as a guest announcer in the booth. However hard it may be to believe because of my obvious bias for the Y, I am a fan of both Utah and Westminster. Give me the word and I will try to work it out with our producer.

The Utes day against the cougs is coming, maybe you could be there on Zion's network to enjoy the moment.
