I feel badly for Southwestern. I feel that they deserve an AQ to Nationals because they did nothing wrong and they had a legitimate season. The problem is (as Sonny has pointed out before) that you need to look more at the points than at the actually ranking. While Southwestern is on the bubble ranking-wise, they have a lot of points to make up to jump into the 11th spot and get an AL bid.

Southwestern is a team that really got the short end of the stick this year. Montana State and Calvin would both have to suffer a good size loss in the first round to give Southwestern a chance to move up and make it to nationals. Montana State's first round exit may allow Southwestern to move up, but there is still no guarantee. If UVSC did not fall out of the picture, Southwestern would already be effectively eliminated.

I dont see how Southwestern does not get bumped ahead of Montana St now. Montana St lost to a team not in the top 25 while Southwestern won their conference outright. The polls are suppose to go off what recently happene since the last poll with some consideration to the rest of the year. Montana st lost their last 4 games.

Although I expect Southwestern to move ahead of Montana State, MSU still has two wins against the top 10 and they play in a much more difficult conference than Southwestern... the RMLC is stacked. MSU has proven that they can at least hang with the best of the best, Southwestern has been blown out in both of their trips to nationals. I think Southwestern will move ahead of MSU, but not Calvin, which would still have them on the outside looking in, if I'm not mistaken.

I forgot the scenario that would be most likely get Southwestern in. If Calvin wins the CCLA title, Dayton is out because they do not have the OOC games for an AL bid. That is probably Southwestern's only hope. Even then, it will be tough to jump Montana State. There are a lot of points currently seperating the two. That is a lot of "ifs".

This is not entirely true, but because we have been at the bottom of the seeds both of the last two years, we have had to play high seeded teams that could be expected to win by a substantial margin. Last year however, in our first consolation game we gave Calvin a good run for their money, could have beaten them if we played like we had all season, and then in the second consolation game we beat Augustana (who had beat harding to get the AQ). Im not saying that we should win Div. B, but we want to play and give it our best shot.
