2008 Lax World MCLA Division 1 Top 25 Poll (4/23/08) is out
You won't hear about BU being a sleeper team by anyone out here in the East. It was a horrible loss for BC and believe me, they know it. Another case of them playing down to their local competition this year, as evidenced by other games that have been closer than they should have been.

this is a very bad loss for bc for obvious reasons. my question, however (outside of playoff play - meaning if there were no games before the next poll), is how does this affect the movement of florida and florida state in the polls. both of these teams lost to bc, and for a while now we have heard supporters say the selc is strong, but after this loss by bc and the selc teams they played... the domino effect would suggest that georgia is the only real tournament worthy team coming out of that region. i know i'm implying a case of a beat b beat c lost to a, but my question is: does bc losing drop uf and fsu down as of this moment?
I don't think that BC's loss hurts them at all. I think they will move up because of it. Florida and FSU both beat UCSB, using a beat b beat c logic, does BC's loss hurt USCB because of the same logic? I don't think so. I think it shows the amount of parity that the league is gaining.

yeah but UCSB didn't lose to BC(the didn't play). Florida and FSU did. I can't believe BC could choke that bad this late in the season. I don't think it should really hurt fsu and uf all that much. BC can play with teams (they only lost to CSU by 2) and lost to #3 Duluth 5-10. They can compete... but that loss is a shock. They might need to win their conference to get to nationals

I don't think it's so much of a bad loss for BC, the PCLL is good and their conference is competitive... it hurts them in the polls for sure (the PCLL always suffers in the polls with such late starts), but I'm more inclined to think that BU just "played up" instead of BC "playing down"

Due to loss to unranked BU, #11 BC is going to fall down to the 15-20 range in the next poll. As I said earlier, they have no margin for error now if they want to get back to Dallas. It doesn't matter if BU played up or BC played down. BC will need to win the PCLL championship to get a a bid to Nationals as they don't have another ranked team on their schedule to move up in the rankings....
Georgia, VT, and FSU will all move up a slot in the next poll due to BC's fall. The final three spots in the tournament seeds will be PCLL Champion (BC likely, maybe NU/UNH/BU/UConn suprise), LSA Champion (Texas A&M, Texas, SMU), and the GRLC Champion (Illinois/LU).
The parity of the league this year is amazing.

If BC falls as much as posts on this board suggest then there is something very wrong with the interpretation and voting here. You have to look at their "body of work" for the year. They are a top 10 team and deserve to be ranked higher then the teams they beat.
BC will make the national tourney.

I think it is a bad loss. It's a bad loss when the team you lose to started the season out 0-5 (three of which were losses to teams that now have losing records and the other two don't have great records). sure they had won 5 straight going into the BC game, but they were against very weak teams.

You expect them to move up the #11 position after losing to unranked BU? What color is the sky in your world?

You have to consider FLALAX might have BC ranked higher than #11 in his poll. 10 might be moving down as far as he's concerned.
Just throwing that out there.

After the loss, I'm sure BC will fall in the polls. I hope, however, that voters have the time to watch the live webcast of the BC/NU game on Sunday at 1pm (EST). Win or lose, voters will actually have the chance to see BC play, as I am willing to bet most of them haven't seen a PCLL game this season. Watching a game might give voters a better idea of BC's skill level as well as the overall level of PCLL play.
This is a great opportunity for voters and MCLA fans in general to see PCLL play, and I think its great that Tim got this all set up.

I don't think the BC loss is as bad as everyone wants to point out. BU had a rough start to the year but has picked it up in the last few weeks. The PCLL is certainly not a one team league and the playoffs will be mighty interesting this year. I think BU deserves more credit for playing well them BC does for playing poorly
