Voters missing Final Top 25 Poll Vote!

Discuss the latest MCLA or NCAA Polls here.

Not arguing either way Coach Dave... but which top 10 are you using?

Is it the Top 10 now or at the beginning of the season? Obviously the top 10 MCLA teams are ever-changing.

And why are 10 teams your chosen criteria when we have 16 teams that make it to Dallas & 9 conference champions (8 AQ's)?

I was trying to make things simple.

The top 10 I used was the final top 10. I left it isolated to those teams because I felt like everyone agreed who the top 10 were, but disagreed on the order.

I don't really hear anyone claiming that anyone from #11-#16 should be above any of the teams in my analysis. I believe there were only 2 instances where #11-16 beat a top 10 team. (Northeastern vs. Arizona, Texas A&M vs. Colorado).

There are other instances of Top 10 teams losing to non-tournament (top 16) teams this season.

30% of the voters in Div. A missed the vote while almost 35% of the Div. B voters missed it.

Ridiculous. . .R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S.

If my team was on the bubble, I'd be upset for certain.

In all seriousness, I don't know how anyone could have missed this vote. I certainly appreciate Coach Podesta for standing up and admitting his mistake and explaining the circumstances. . .but I spent most of Sunday looking forward to seeing the tournament field like a child on Christmas morning. I don't know how we lost 30% of our voters over the final poll weekend. It should have been a surprise to no one.

We preach on these boards that the only poll that matters is the last one, and this happens? Honestly voters, do you not care, do you think you have better things to do? Well, if you do, then get out, we don't need you, there has to be people that actually care about this great league we have here. There are too many people / teams that work their tails off all year for this event and for you to do this to them is ridiculous. Yes, I am about the 10th person to use the term RIDICULOUS, because thats what this is...

On a lighter note, I feel this is going to be the best tournament our league has ever had, its just too bad our pollsters couldn't feel the same way.

Let's try and avoid saying that the voters don't care. In fact, myself and several others have voted in every poll. You may not have meant it to come out that way, but it seems (from my point of view and the way I read it) that you are pointing the finger at the entire group. I love this sport and take it very seriously, as do others. I am as upset as everyone else is, that is for sure. I thank Coach Podesta for stepping up and informing us of his situation. Unfortunately, he was only one of many that didn't vote. Fortunately, we still have a great tournament grouping to look forward to.

Sorry Scott, that was directed towards the voters that didn't vote and didn't have an excuse.

Understood, not a problem Woda. I can completely understand where everyone is coming from. I truly hope that we can change this trend next season.

Interesting note that I'm not sure people are noticing. While there is a lot of debate about where teams belong in the top 16, there doesn't seem to be much debate about who the top 16 teams should be, unlike last year (see Utah). There was a 126 point difference between the last at-large team (Florida) and the next team out (Florida St), and a 167 point difference between Florida and an the next team after Florida St (Michigan St). It's good to see no team feels robbed like last year. Should make for an exciting tourny.

Sonny....
if we had 12 people miss the vote....where were the other points and votes taken from...I know that BYU has 1000 points and 40 first place votes...how were those calculated with only 28 votes being posted....just curious...

all final poll points are extrapolated from the voters who did vote to ensure an even number of points/1st place votes each week

You've neglected the B division, where Southwestern fell only 15 points short of Calvin for the last at-large spot. I'm not suggesting Calvin doesn't belong in the tourney, I just know if I was playing at Southwestern I might feel "robbed." The A division is much cleaner, as you noted.

I also missed the final vote, I also read Sonny's email that stated it had to be in by 6 PM eastern time, no exceptions! Sorry, life gets in the way sometimes and actually my family does take precedence over lacrosse, even though most times my wife does not think so. If I thought I could have turned it in late, it would have been, but it really would not have been that much different than my previous poll, and reviewing the final poll and my poll previous to that I could only find a couple of areas that I didn't agree with and mostly in the bottom 5 or 6 teams. Sorry if I inadvertently screwed someone, I will try to do better in the future.

I'm not gonna lie: while i do appreciate some of the voters coming forward and apologizing for missing the final vote, i think that any and all excuses for missing this final poll are complete and utter garbage.

If there was any poll not to miss, it was this one. the fact that 30% of voters messed this up is mind boggling and disgraceful to this league

furthermore i think everyone who missed this last vote should have the privilege revoked for next season

Do voters just type up their top 25 and email it in? Or is there like an admin login with pull down menus or something like that? Just curious about the process.
