A couple small comments:

Teams do have bad games, and I would put my life savings on if BYU played Zona again the score would be the same when Zona played U of M.
Also recall that game was BYU's first of the season, Zona's fourth against some stiff competition.

It’s not a team’s fault that the other team drops during the season because of a lost or two.
It's not to a team's credit if a team they beat was initially ranked higher than they should have been, perhaps based largely on last year's team. It's not a matter of "fault" at all, just trying to find criteria on which to honestly judge relative strengths and weaknesses.

I wish nothing but the best for all the teams that are on the bubble and good luck in all your games.
Here's something we can all agree heartily on. Looking forward to some good lax.

Alex-
One thing that you are overlooking is that #7 Arizona was dropped down to #10 as a result of their loss to ASU in the last poll. Florida St only moved up to #9 as result of the losses ahead of them (AZ, Oakalnd, BC).
So, since the last poll, Florida St #9 lost to #11 VaTech, while #10 Arizona lost to #5 UCSB. Who should drop further? I'm not sure that Arizona should drop at all as a result of their last loss.

Finally, if people are concerned with UCSD at #8 with 12-2 overall and 4-2 vs. ranked teams, answer this: Why is Oregon at #7 with a 9-4 record and 3-3 vs. ranked teams?

No, they eliminated this a couple of years ago.

They beat us last year when we went there to play them.

You have to look at facts and not what ifs. Facts are that AZ has the BYU win on their record and Oakland has nothing comparable to that. AZ did drop after the Michigan loss, dropped again after the ASU loss, and will probably drop a spot or 2 after the UCSB loss. I can guarantee that the voters will not be voting up Oakland because you think that you can beat them. If Oakland wants to improve their standing, they have their opportunity this week in the CCLA tourney. You have to make it happen, not surmise that a hypothetical game between two other teams would help you in the standings. That being said, Oakland is in position to make it to the tourney right now. What they need to avoid is another drubbing and hope that Chico does not pull off a miracle.

Actually this year is not nearly as big of a mess as last year. The UMLL, GRLC, PCLL, LSA will send their AQ. That means that #12 at large is in. An upset in the PNCLL could make it only the top 11 at large. An upset by Chico in the WCLL might make it only the top 10 at large.
I think Arizona is safe and probably Florida St is safe. The real bubble battle is between Oakland and Utah for #12.

Poll 9-13
#9 FSU- will move down to #10 or #11
#10 Arizona- loss to #5 UCSB- stay #10 or down to #11
#11 VaTech- moves to up to #9
#12 Oakland- can't get blown out
#13 Utah- can't get blown out- loss to BYU was after the last poll

Washington or SFU could spoil the party for #12 by winning the PNCLL.
Chico could spoil the party for #11 by winning the WCLL.
If both Oakland and Utah get blown out, and Chico makes the WCLL final, Chico could move up to #12.

how come oregon is ranked so highly. They virtually have the same record as chico, they have not beaten any top 10 teams, they lost to at the time a ranked SFU, and they beat chico by one goal(questionable game) and yet there are ranked #7 and chico is sitting 10 spots behind them. so can someone explain why they are ranked so highly

It's pretty obvious from your postings that you're doing your best to get Chico noticed. People have noticed, but you have to be careful how hard you push for them, or there's a risk that the forum members (some of whom are poll voters) will get irritated by the constant name-dropping.

You make the claim that it's unfair that Oregon beat you by one goal, and that you're ten spots behind them. Don't rely on strict "I beat them, I should be ahead of them" logic. If the pollsters did, you would find yourself right behind SFU (for clarification, where they are ranked NOW).

People are watching the WCLL playoffs for some indication of where teams should be placed in the final poll. Have some confidence in the system, and believe that if Chico deserves to go, they'll get to go.

Quit trying to pick apart and minimalize the accomplishments of every team above Chico. It's bordering on poor sportsmanship and disrespect.

I think Oregon is currently ranked so high based on their performance in Michigan, where they lost close games to both Michigan and Colorado.

Is this an example of eplsoccer77 (Chico Fan) "getting information and views"?
it will be interesting to see how chico matches up to ucsb. on a side note...ucsd got lucky with a close win over chapman. Its hard to believe a #8 ranked team can barely beat a #20 team. Doesnt this say something about ucsd and how they are overranked. I cant wait for sonoma to show them how to play

here we go again on this topic, it just keeps coming around. i don't know how many times people have said, "well they lost in really close games to highly ranked teams." the response to this has always been the same. great if they played a competitive game, but a loss is still a loss. people have argued that chico is under ranked and should be higher because they only lost to oregon by one or sonoma by one. well just because oregon lost close to michigan and colorado it does not jusitfy their being ranked #7, if that is the case then put chico up there with them or else find a better reason to give them the ranking they have.

Not playoffs just yet, but BC was just upset by Northeastern in overtime 13-12. Northeastern has secured a first round bye and the #2 seed in the PCLL. Northeastern has only suffered losses twice this season, to Florida State and New Hampshire.

Why wouldn't Chico go? They made it farther in the WCLL than Arizona.

Chico got matched up with #19 Cal Poly
Ariona played #5 SB

Good for Chico for getting to the final four, but your not going to get into the top 13 by beating a #19 team.
