According to your posting history, you probably don't believe UMD should even be at nationals. So whether they will be ready is not even a factor

And if you think I am just hating on UMD, I also think Michigan will have a very tough time ever winning a national championship. They get out of school much earlier than most colleges, so it kind of messes up their routine. For some, that might seem like something minor, but classes and lacrosse adds a lot of structure to your life and keeps you focused on a single goal. When you shake that up, and all of the sudden you have all of this free time to party, catch some sun, or travel (I don't know what kind of rules JP has for his team) it has to screw with the team. This is also true for teams that have finals during or around nationals.

BYU is out in one week and is always done a full month before Nationals.

For some reason i get a feeling that BYU doesn't have the same penchant for partying as most other schools might

Clearly you have never heard of milk pong or the raucous 4 square parties.

It looks like people actually try to use that toilet.

This was at the old LaxHouse. Zach Davis (the artist), Tyler Monteath, Steve Naegle and I (Jordan Harris) all lived together last year. What you can't see in this picture is our landlord who was trying to remove it with paint remover (thats the liquid leading to the toilet)

Let's just say that we spent one Saturday last year repainting the parking lot.

Ravaging-

I agree with you that teams that have a tough conference are at an advantage. Being that the U of M (Minnesota) is most likely the second best team in the UMLL, yet lost 18-1 on Saturday to Duluth does not bode well for parity in the conference. Nor does it serve as a good tune up for nationals. This is why UMD has traveled out of conference to find quality games.

However, I do disagree with you that UMD (or Michigan) will EVER win a national championship. It seems to me that through the short history of our league, more and more teams step up to the plate and become contenders each year. To me this is a sign of good things to come for club lacrosse.

It does seem like Michigan has only to overcome their history to win the big one, it always seems like their inability to win is a big part of the tournament conversations year in and year out, and they just can't escape it. If they can't do it this year, it will only add to the mystique of their "curse" if you will.

It ain't for lack of trying.

Way back when, we had a recruit on campus named Ravaging Beast. His choice came down to Michigan and UCSB. He went to UCSB, they won some championships. True story.

Maybe if you'd introduced him to the volleyball team?

Maybe some of the gene pool options on the vball team could have swayed my decision. It really came down to what campus had better looking women...and tuition. Great recruiting trip though. I was quite impressed that they had cheerleaders. True story. Michigan still is my second favorite team.

Maybe its not that Michigan doesn't have as attractive women, its just it seems that all the good looking ones disappear when it gets cold and then show up again when it gets warm. Has anyone else noticed that? Certainly true of my college experience.

For sure, it is hella hard to check out a chick when she is bundled in 47 layers of parkas and pants. But it makes those nice spring days when the skirts come out that much more enjoyable.

Did I mention that the UCSB girls wear bikinis to class...year round? Works well in the rain. Who wants to transfer?
