Your post had an obvious RMLC bias.

That one busted me up...

Dino, when I saw your screen name, I was wondering if your name was the spanish version of "Dinsonaur!" or if you were going for a more hip iDinosaur. Your sig confirmed it, though. Nice use of the proper punctuation, by the way.

Just when the noise had died down, here's a couple of scores that might have an effect on the next poll.

Chapman - 12
UCSB - 11

Cal - 9
Oregon - 7

The UCSB doubters are going to have to rethink things. Oregon might be in a free fall.

Don't forget FSU 8 UF 7 and Michigan 8 Colorado 0. I haven't seen a shut out in lacrosse since middle school.

If you're not going to Dallas to win the National Championship, or if you're going there to finish 8th or 4th... then you don't deserve to be there.

I don't see Michigan volunteering to play BYU in the first round rather than Lindenwood. Or Duke saying bring on UVA rather than Siena. The seeding of the tournament is very important or else they would just pull matchups out of a hat. I'll debate where teams belong in the polls (arguably) ad nauseum but to say that seeding doesn't matter is right up there with "you guys should go out and practice your left instead of posting" on the unintentional comedy scale.

I never said seeding doesn't matter. I simply stated that at some point, if you want to win the tournament, you have to beat the top teams. Whether you're the #1 trying to win, or the #16 to trying to win, you'll still likely face #2-4 at some point.

Is Chapman worse than people thought or is UCSB better than people thought? Or none of the above?

Having not seen the game, I would guess the answer lies somewhere in the middle. I think UCSB always shows up towards the end of the season. We have heard similar talk about UCSB dropping the past two years, yet somehow they always end up in the semi-finals.

On the other side I think Chapman has not played a "great" team since Ithaca. Their win against BYU was solid, but they did give up 15 goals. I think this game goes to show that their defense is susceptible, but you are going to have to catch their offense to beat them.

As has been said 100 times so far in this thread (a fantastic read mind you) there is a lot of lacrosse left to be played.

Michigan and Chapman squeak by with one goal victories. Wow. I think there is ample evidence now -- despite all these arguments about the poll rankings -- that the MCLA NC in Dallas could be really wide open and that almost any of the sixteen teams invited could win it all.

I think you can hardly say that Chapman is worse than people thought considering that they are still undefeated in MCLA play (minus the Ithaca loss).

What i think this helps to re-affirm is that UCSB is more of the team that womped on Sonoma and nearly beat ASU (and Chapman) and less of the team that lost to FSU and Florida.

Like somebody else here says, UCSB always peaks towards the end of the season, and i have to think that a 1 goal game with the #2 team in the country affirms that. They will still have a game with a pretty good LMU team next week and then the WCLL playoffs. If the evidence holds true, i would expect them to beat LMU pretty handily and then most likely have to go out to ASU for a first round playoff game.

I would say that they would need to win that game to really cement their place at Nationals, but with a good win at LMU and a close loss at ASU they could still squeek in. After the recent results, i think it would be hard to argue against them, but other teams may be able to make better cases...
