i can no longer be a guest, just reading this, itis getting rediculous...
Grizlens said it. Distance shouldnt be an excuse. A D2 team's budget is completely of their own making. Just bc you are a D2 team doesnt imply you have a smaller budget. And, again, just like Grizlens said, FUNDRAISING, is how they do it. Montana did the traveling as a D2 team.
A reason D2 gets a bad wrap is bc of the complaining and/or using travel distance/money/in-conference level of competiton as excuse or justification. Hence why there has been talk about using D2 as a developmental league. When was the last time BC or Northeastern complained about travel? Let alone Montana or Montana State (who are historically 2 top D2 teams).
Further, a budget is per player. Bigger team equals bigger budget. Therefore just bc a team has less guys, doesnt mean they cant travel bc their budget is smaller. If anything, it should be easier to arrange and plan a team trip with a smaller team. Same proportional cost, with less guys.
If your team is committed to getting better and challenging themselves on the field, money(fundraising) and traveling shouldnt bean issue.
GVLAX- We know your team is good...go to practice, hit the wall, do something…We all know your team is good…you beat the #2 team in the nation, we know this, no need to bring it up over and over.
PS..looks like fort lewis is going to have to take it to Westminster now. Loosing to UNC (who SJU beat) obviously works against their cause. RMLC and SELC seem to be the toughest conferences in D2, maybe that has worked against them in terms of where they stand in relation to other teams (just a thought, no need to brutally pick every word of this statement apart for the next 2 days!!!).
Outside the top 12 I think there is a drop off. Imagin if USD, Claremont and Montana were still in D2. Things would be an absolute mess right now.
