You just have to look at Sonny's post to understand why the first place vote went to number 9. You cannot submit your ballot incomplete, so you have to have a number 1, you just don't make it where it would hurt you. You are able to influence the eventual seeding.

If that's true.......and I don't believe that these voters do that......I think voting in that manner is not consistent with the spirit of the polling system. I don't think we have any Mack Brown's here.

This is what I see that is wrong with that first place vote. It's almost like that voter (cough Jason Lamb) knew it would put NE ahead of the Gauchos. Everything else looks great, but I won't complain other than that cause there is still only four points keeping them apart.

If Jason acutally did that, not that he did, it would put UCSB on the other side of the bracket and force them to play Sonoma in the first round. It would also make it so BYU didn't have to play UCSB in the second round. Pretty interesting if it is the truth........

This is a great example of how a message board can generate rumors and even sway public perception (albeit on our small scale here). I don't know who voted Northeastern #1. Sonny did not tell me, and he shouldn't. However, he did tell me that it was NOT Coach Lamb (BYU) or Coach Gray (Northeastern). It wasn't me. It wasn't Sonny. Dan Morris (PCLL) already said it wasn't him. If you take all of us on our word that leaves 35 other possibilities, in case people care to continue speculating. I don't really care, but I assume it was someone who simply values an undefeated record at this point in the season.

Ok, as for my comments. I'm not suggesting that the poll be turned on its head. I jut feel that teams that have been winning should not lose ground and teams that have been losing should not stay put. I know there are still games to be played and conf. tourneys. Also, i dont feel that coach Lamb would be worried about poll positions. There are still two polls left. Much can change. An upset here and an early exit from the conf. tourney can ruin a season still. And to me, it doesnt appear that BYU shys away from opponents. Just look at their schedule.

P.S.
sorry for the poorly organized response

Wasn't me but an undefeated record is impressive at this time.

There goes my conspiracy theory. But that also debunks my theory that coaches don't vote for their own team.

Personally I think the poll is pretty good and fair. The 3-6 slots with oregon, ASU, Mich, And CU i think could be moved around a little. Its hard haveing both Oregon and ASU above CU but CU does have to terrible loss to A&M and the recent loss to UCSB. I guess i dont have a solutution to this but i do feel that those spots could be moved around some....but overall its an ok poll. and there are 2 more before the tourney so you never know. And NE should get a number 1 vote. its only one vote but they are undefetead. that speaks for something

I didn't mean to add fuel to the fire, but it is interesting with how close everyone is and where they would in up in the bracket that Northeastern's #1 would change everything so drastically. I mean no offensive to Northeastern or Minnesota-Duluth but I wouldn't want to meet UCSB in the second round after being a #10 seed last year and making it to the semi's.

HAHA.

But seriously, I think this should be left with JP's comments. I don't think voters should be pressured to come out and say one way or the other whom they voted for, where and why. I know most of the voters personally, and know that all of them take it very seriously and don't play games with their votes. I know I spend hours looking at records and matchups and such. Especially this year, as it seems there is even more of a level playing field.

It wasn't me either............of course, it couldn't be..... since I'm not a voter. :)

Seriously, this whole discussion really shouldn't be happening. There is no vast conspiracy here. Keep in mind that a poll is a consensus of varying opinions that results in an average of all voters opinions. If everyone had the same opinion, there would be no reason to have a poll. One voter thinks that an undefeated team should be #1. That's OK. Deal with it.

I also don't think that Coach Lamb's vote should have been revealed unless he himself wanted to do it. No voter owes anyone an explanation. If there is tampering or anything of the sort going on, then I would hope that the EB would take appropriate action and remove that person from the voting process next year. Otherwise, nearly 40 voters will generally it all out.
