Despite some of what some of the other posters may think I think both BC and Northeastern would definitely be contenders in the WCLL in '07.
I mean BC came out and smashed Claremont and USC and played UCSB tight.
When was the last time a WCLL team went to Santa Barbara and played the Gauchos close let alone beat UCSB? The pit is an amazingly hard place to play. The last time UCSB even lost a WCLL Division Game (LA/old South) was in 2002 at Arizona by 1!
Secondly, Northeastern beat all 4 WCLL teams they faced including a good Arizona team by 6 in Tucson. All of the WCLL teams know that the trip to UofA is one of the hardest roadtrips in all the WCLL...probably the 3rd most difficult place to play in the WCLL besides the Pit and Rohnert Park.
Hopefully both teams will get a chance to prove their worth on the field come May.
But don't get me wrong I will be rooting for the Cali teams!![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

There is a lot of talk about the talent of NU and BC, but I feel like most of it comes from biased or uninformed sources (including myself). Is there anyone out there who has first hand knowledge of the level of play of the top of the WCLL or RMLC who has also seen NU or BC play? I saw Buffalowill's post, but are there any other opinions? It sucks that so many people in our league base their opinions on previous success rather than current success, but it is an inevitable occurence when many people never even see a team play.

The way most people are talking, there is no way that both teams will get a chance...it is either one or the other...whoever wins the AQ. I am not saying that this is entirely unfair, because I will be the first to admit that BC and NU's schedules are weaker than many others'...it is just unfortunate that teams in conferences other than the WCLL or RMLC are never given the benefit of the doubt.

This season I have seen NU and can compare their level of play with Sonoma, Arizona, and ASU whom I have also observed close and personal, NU would be a force to contend with if they were in the WCLL.

On an entirely different bent... Michigan plays BYU today after a week off from their debacle against CSU. Michigan over the years has been the only consistant non-WCLL/RMLC top team in the MCLA. How tight will Michigan play them after such a poor showing. They've long been bunched up there with BYU, CSU, Sonoma, and UCSB as far as polls are concerned but when it comes down to brass tacks it seems they almost always lose head to head (at least when it's really counted i.e. tournament time).
Even winning out the season I wonder how high they could really push their seed.

Thank god. I started this conversation and I guess it took Buffalowill to actually say what I was thinking. I think BC/NU would compete (THAT DOESNT NECESSARILY MEANT AUTOMATICALLY WIN) for the WCLL title.
They had a great record and played the best close.

Last year Quarterfinals, UCSD beat UCSB at the pit 10-7.
But yes, both NE and BC could make some noise at nationals. I think the BC-NE game told me more about BC than it did Northeastern, having seen 3 of NE's games while they were in SD.

Albert Man, can you give us some insite as to what you have seen in regards to NE while in SD and any WCLL teams you have seen this year?
