so NU moves up after a loss to BC? and BC doesn't move into the top 15? questionable.

Michigan:

Can someone please tell me what they have DONE THIS YEAR to be a top 4 team?

Top 25 Wins:
#14 Lindenwood by 4
#18 Florida by 6
#11 Florida State by 7 - a team that will drop in the polls
#20 Michigan State by 8

Top 25 Losses:
#1 BYU by 6
#2 CSU by 7
#4 Arizona State by 1 - a team that will drop in the polls

Sounds like a good argument for them being a top 5 team.

Well, man, I just dont get it.. You need to at least compete with top 5 teams to be in the top 5, they got whooped by CSU and BYU.

The only top 10 team they have played well against is ASU and they still lost. ASU will probably drop to a #8 now.

I definitely see Michigan around a #9 or so, but not at #4.

With that being said this is what I think the poll should look like:

1. BYU
2. CSU
3. Oregon
4. Colorado
5. UMD
6. Arizona
7. UCSB
8. ASU
9.Michigan
10. SSU
11. Georgia
12. Lindenwood
13. Texas A&M
14. Boston College
15. Northeastern
16. Florida

Michigan is definitely #4 or #5. Why? Because you can't put anyone else there.

I agree for the most part. With only 2 quality wins all year, I can't put UMD in the top 5.

5. UCSB
6. Arizona
7. ASU/UMD
8. ASU/UMD

Everything else is right on. Thats the best I have seen yet.

JerzWB, you have the Gauchos at #5. But since the last poll came out, UCSB has both a GOOD playoff win against a top team (ASU) but also a BAD loss, 5-13 to Chapman. Even if Chapman was still eligible to be ranked, my guess is they would be in the 10-20 range, but definitely not higher. Since everyone is debating who belongs in the Top 5, let's hear the rationale for the Gauchos to be there, given the recent 8-goal loss they suffered? I'm not trying to criticize your picks, nor do I mean to be critical of the Gauchos.

Just honestly trying to sort all this out, and I enjoy reading these debates. I've already reached my own conclusions and cast my ballot, but am always willing to listen and learn...

Here's my take...

1) BYU
2) Oregon
3) CSU
4) CU
5) UMD
6) Michigan
7) Arizona
8 ) Noma

From here, everyone has lost a game in the past two weeks. Some have had wins as well, but they have all lost, so it is difficult to gage in my eyes. I have a tough time with UCSB even though they beat ASU, they got routed by Chapman. FSU shot themselves in the foot at the end of the season in my eyes. I have a hard time with Northeastern being there, but I can't move BC up that far. I really just struggle, so these next picks are kind of a shot in the dark, but I will do my best. (not that what i really think matters)

9) Lindenwood - have done nothing special, but haven't lost
10) ASU - lost to SB and U of A
11) UCSB - beat ASU, but lost to Chapman
12) Georgia - won the SELC ?
13) UF - beat an overrated FSU team, but they were ranked 11 at the time
14) BC - hard time jumping up 8 spots, but i really dont know who else to put and you can prove yourself in your tournament, they did beat the then #9
15) Northeastern - were overrated in my eyes, sorry, lost to BC
16) Texas A&M - been idle pretty much
17-20) Michigan State/FSU/Poly/Utah

Then I got nothing. Deciding 9-16 was actually way more difficult than I thought it would be cause there was so much to consider and I am glad I don't really have to do it. Good luck.

I continue to see UMD up in the 5-8 range and I'm totally confused by it. They have 2 wins against teams in the 13-20 range and got swept on their one big OOC trip. A win and a win and a loss is a loss. Do they deserve a trip to Dallas... of course. But I think you need to beat a team in the top 8 to be in the top 8.

I have a similar opinion about Sonoma and Michigan but I those teams have gotten some help from where they were in the pre-season poll.
