Some of the point totals surprised me a bit... For instance, UVSC compared to Northern Colorado & Montana State. Both played UVSC to 3 goal games, but the point differential is more than 100.

We haven't talked about it much, but obviously the WCLL B & UMLL B's are very good, the RMLC has 4 teams in the top 12, what a tough conference to win. Looks like anyone could come out with that AQ. It also looks as though the UMLL & WCLL with have 2 of the 3 At-Large spots, with those RMLC teams having the best bet at the 3rd... Schedule wise, the RMLC Playoffs will allow plenty of room to move around in those rankings, and I don't see a different conference with an easy a road to that third At-Large spot.

Playoffs

Postby Ken Lovic on Thu Apr 06, 2006 12:26 pm

no truth to that at all. Years ago in the SELC you had to playa year of B Division before you could join the A division, a rule that is gone and rightfully so.

Division I-A football schools that play in the SELC B are not eligible for the playoffs (Alabama).

Otherwise- as long as they conform to the SELC and USLMDIA policies they are eligible.

sniffling, but no weeping sonny.

the lack of games between polls must've knocked southern oregon out of the top 25.

i'm certain the boys will have an answer to that call by weekend's end.

will post update in this forum sunday night.
new and improved.

UF and NCST being the only victims of that rule.

UF was 10-2 (with only losses to highly ranked Michigan and (top 15)Rhode Island. As a 'b' team we were ranked 18th in the 'A' poll.

Assuming that the UMLL and WCLL get two of the AQ's. Are there any games where the SELC will move up in the polls to compete with the RMLC for the last AQ?

Nope. It looks as though the SELC big 4 get to beat up on themselves... The problem is that right now, the RMLC has the 9, 10, & 11 team... assuming the current highest ranked teams win their conferences, 2 at-larges are spoken for, and the tournament would look like this....

1st Round Bye
1)SD WCLL AQ
2)Claremont At-Large
3)St. John's UMLL AQ
4)UVSC RMLC AQ

*5)Harding GRLC AQ
**12)Salem State PCLL AQ

*5)St. Thomas At-Large
11)SouthWestern LSA AQ

7)Montana PNCLL AQ
10)Dayton CCLA AQ

8)Eckerd SELC AQ
9)Northern Colorado At-Large

Please correct me if I'm wrong here, but that's the group as I remember it working... If the final at-large were not to be NC, it would be Montana State or Fort right now. I'm also assuming the PCLL AQ, which I believe was established, hence the 12 team tournament.

*They tied for 5th, Sonny put Harding first, I have no idea how they'd decide that... God forbid there was a tie for 4th.... but Harding will play St. Thomas this weekend. Games like that give the SELC a shot at the 3rd At-Large. A Harding Blowout 25-1 could drop St. Thomas low enough to not make it (not a prediction).

I put Harding before St. Thomas because H comes before S in the alphabet.

I have no idea how the MDIA Council would resolve ties in the final polls with regard to the tournament seeds.

UST and Harding are tied now, but... NOT FOR LONG... Should be quite the battle in cattle country this weekend. #5 vs #5.

Can UVSC crack the top 3?
St. Johns beat SD, SD beat Claremont, Claremont beat St. Johns.
Are 1, 2, and 3 spots solid? Is there a way UVSC can crack it? If not, the top 4 is pretty solid assuming WCLL championship game is SD vs. Claremont and St. Johns and UV win their conference tourneys. A lot of fighting for position among the other spots in the top 12.
I still think Calvin and Dayton are going to be a teams to watch as well.

I'm pretty sure the WCLL championship game will be Claremont and San Diego. San Diego's locked up the South spot and the only team Claremont has to play for the North spot is UC Santa Cruz. They play them this weekend and--barring any major disasters--they should win that game without a problem.

As for the SELC possibly getting the third at-large bid, I don't think they would qualify since they didn't play the two OOC games required to qualify for the at-large bid.

What would happen if UST wins the UMLL championship? How do you think that would affect the polls?

i think eckard has the 2 ooc games, and if one of the other 3 teams wins the selc theyd have a shot at the last at-large bid
