Good point, lets compare.
Cal Poly beat Chapman by 4, FSU beat Chapman by two
Cal Poly beat BYU by two, FSU lost to BYU by 3
Both Cal Poly and FSU beat Santa Clara by 15.
You make the call, which one deserves to be in the top ten.

I wasn't stating anything about FSU's performance this year. I was just quoting that people were in fact questioning what FSU did last year. The tournament in Plano will show where teams end up. Whether people feel those teams deserve that spot is a whole other argument. Shouldn't Dream Team v6.0 have won everything?

Well Utah beat both Arizona and Poly who both beat BYU and BYU beat Michigan so Utah should be #1.
On a more serious note, week after week we need to remind ourselves that to get to the bottom of the rankings you have to compare the change in points. It's hard this late in the season to make up ground on teams ahead of you.

i don't want to speak for evan but it appears to me that he was defending FSU's current ranking rather than saying they should be higher.
from what i know they only graduated 2 signficant players last year and picked up boatloads of freshman and a few transfers.
There schedule does leave a lot to be desired, partly because the SELC is having a crappy year as a whole this year.
from what i remember, as the 9 seed in the tourney last year they faced similar doubts, they convincingly beat #8 ucsd and then squeaked by #1 BYU before getting hammered in the semi's.

Why do you think the SELC is having a "crappy year." Because UF is having a "crappy year?" or because GT is not finishing the year strong? Or because the typical powerhouses in SELC (VT&FSU) did not schedule stronger? Please tell me why you think the SELC is having a "crappy year"?
Did you look at today's poll? We have 4 teams in the top 25!!

SELC
I am willing to see our league is having a down year. This is one of them. This is not to say there are not some solid teams in the SELC, especially within some rivalries. But within our league we played a number of top 12 teams and we have 0 wins.
Only wins I can recall are vs. Chapman and Cal. Two good teams in those two, but not the top of the best 2 leagues- RMLC and WCLL. We have losses to BYU (3 teams), Utah (1 team), SSU (1 team), Lindenwood (1 team) and I know there are others I am just going off memory (which ain't so good these days).
Our league does not play week in and week out tough competition like the WCLL and RMLC. Yes, we have some good teams, but its not consistant enough. When UF is down (they are still having a decent year), Auburn is re-building and GT not finishing strong does not help our league. It is great to see some new faces in new places (Wake in, UGA #2 seed) but we are not consistent enough as a league.
I am huge SELC fan but I can identify our weaknesses in certain years. Last year I was really proud of the way we looked in Blaine. I hope we get 2 in this year, but it will be tough. Either way, I will hope they represent us well- 1 or 2 teams. Not trying to dis-credit our 4 teams in the poll, that is great, but 3 between 14-22 is not like 4 in the top 10. We have to be honest. I don't think we won't be there soon as a league. The talent is getting better (USC, Clemson, UCF, ECU all stepping as of late) but still not as consistant as other leagues with top performers.

UF, VT, GT (half the playoff teams) are not as good as they have been in years past. the selc routinely has had 4 (sometimes more) teams in the top 25.
i regret using the term 'crappy' sorry if i touched a nerve

Does anybody know what is up with Pringle? He missed 5 minutes of the Utah game, during which time the backup gave up 3 goals. He also missed the first half of the BYU game. Not to say that his presence would have changed the score of the BYU game, but it may have made a difference against Utah.

Despite better competition in the first round, I can't see many realistic opportunities for upsets. Maybe #8 v. #9 or #7 v. #10.
Second round:
#1 Michigan v. #8 Arizona
#2 CSU v. #7 FSU
#3 SSU v. #6 UCSB
#4 BYU v. #5 Colorado
The second round is a crapshoot with upsets possible across the board.

Going by this first round I could see an Oregon upset or a Utah upset.
Second round I only see second 2 games being close.
