The Lindenwood Invitational should help shine a little more light on where some teams just outside the top 10 should be ranked, as Oakland (11), Lindenwood (12), Northeastern (16), and Minnesota (25) all face each other this weekend in St. Louis (St. Charles)

If either Lindenwood or Oakland come out undefeated, is there than grounds to bump them into the top 10 (although none of their opponents are ranked top 10?

Even if BYU were to lose all of their "important" ro "big" games this year, are we really going to leave them out of the tournament an add another team from the SELC to the tournament. No offense to those teams but they are no BYU, and BYU playing a hard schedule and losing is still much better than a bad team playing an easy schedule and winning. A BYU team coming into the tournament with 7 losses is still a very good team, if they were to lose half of the games they play that are big they would have around 4 or 5 losses and that would be very good by most teams standards.

Short answer, no. Normally you have to beat a team ahead of you or have a team ahead of you lose to someone else to move up.

I'm not going to comment on BYU either way- but this type of attitude is unfair to teams trying to break into the top. If a team is outperforming another, regardless of which two teams, the better team should be in Plano (AQ's aside- not an issue with BYU).

When you look at the top 25 teams, there are a lot teams that are not national powerhouses in athletics, but yet still are strong in lacrosse. Those teams had to fight against comments like this one to get there.

The fact that any school is "That School" should never factor into decisionmaking in polls or tournament selection.

And I'd agree with CATLAX- the tough issue with the top ten is- if you move someone else in, who goes out? As of right now, there haven't been enough games played to answer that, after one or two more weeks though, I'm sure that there will be teams with valid contentions to the top 10.

Good call WaterBoy... we will indeed need a few more weeks of ball before we can really start questioning/ speculating over rankings.

Actually, the above mentioned three SELC teams went to Nationals last year.

Georgia Tech did not go to the tourney last year. SELC only had 2 teams.

SELC

To be honest, I can't remember a time the SELC ever had 3 teams in it. We have not deserved it either in recent years. I feel things are getting better in the SELC and we may soon some day compete for 3 maybe 4 slots but only in time....

The first year I went with Auburn, didn't we have AU, UT, and VT? I could be totally wrong though.

Va Tech was not a member of the SELC at that time if memory serves me right.

They joined in 2002 if my old mind serves me right.... but I could be wrong
