Greetings… This year I’ve been entrusted with the MDIA Top-25 preview which is why I’m posting to this board. Last year’s writer did a tremendous job so I’ve got some huge shoes to fill. Since there are so many teams to hit in such a short time span, I’m requesting information from people “in the know” to aide my cause. Hopefully the head and assistant coaches will watch this thread and chime in with the bulk of the information but I’ll note any newsworthy information that is posted regardless. Here is the key information I’ll need to put together the capsules and I’m focusing on last year’s final top-25 poll (posted below if you need it). Thank you so much for all of your help!!!!!!! I’d be a considerable help if you could try to post information by the end of the day on Saturday. I apologize for the short period of time allotted! If you need examples of last year’s material let me know.
-Last year's finish (Overall and conference record, season finish)
Example…
14-3 Overall, 5-0 RMLC, third round of national tournament
-Up to three key returnees (Name – Hometown if you know it - Year – position - last year’s Games Played/Goal/Assist/Points or GP/GAA/Save % numbers)
Example…
Alex Smith (Fort Collins, Colo.)– Goalie - 16 GP/ 6.05 GAA/ .899 Save %
-Strengths/weaknesses
Example (from last year’s capsule)…
The Seawolves build from the midfield, where they feature three solid seniors. Brian Cummings is perhaps the most dynamic and is lauded by coach Doug Carl as being one of the MDIA’s toughest players. Sonoma depends on Chris Esposito and face-off man JD Hamann for senior leadership. Junior Aaron Kelly and Dan McDonald man a revamped attack. Perhaps the biggest question mark for the Seawolves is in the goal, where they have to deal with replacing perennial All-MDIA performer Dominic Gomez. Senior Greg Johnstone, sophomore Zach Young and redshirt freshman Warren Pringle all fight for a job that was up for grabs coming off the fall. Playing in front of the goal is junior defenseman Benny Cannis, who is one of the country’s best stickhandlers.
-Number of starters returning/lost
Example…
Starters Returning 8/3
-Returning Players with All-Conference and/or All-MDIA Honors
Example…
Tim McComb (Phoenix, Ariz.) – Longpole / All-WCLL
-Head Coach Changes (or # of years at the helm for current head coach)
Example…
Flip Naumburg (9th Season) or Pat Riley (First year)

Information
Thank you to the schools who did submit information. Honestly I'm still missing a good number and my overall deadline will not be pushed back. If you can provide information in the next two days please do so!!

Poll Deadline
I've gotten a good chunk of information and will post the schools who haven't contacted me later today or tomorrow. I have some more time as things get sorted out on my end. So just pass along your info as soon as you can if your team hasn't reported. Thank you.

Inside Lacrosse is still reluctant to cover us. It's not that they don't respect what we're doing. They just didn't see a return on coverage when they did more of it a few years ago. It's kind of a catch-22, but if they think they'll see a significant spike in subscriptions in the IA regions of the country due to IA coverage, then they'll devote resources to us.
The guy who was putting together the previews never followed up to get it done. He was freelancing for IL. If he had done the work and compiled the preview, they would have included it. Since he didn't, they didn't have anything to run. They are not going to devote one of their staff to track down all of the information. To be honest, I don't blame them. It's tough enough getting all of our teams to fill in applications and eligibility forms correctly - much less provide accurate, timely media information.
Inside Lacrosse does want to run interesting regular season stories on the IA. If you know of a good story, contact John Jiloty directly.
