I think both of you have valid points-
TM is right to say that the PCLL's season isn't over, and therefore the season for the MDIA isn't over either.
CATLAX is right when he implies that it's basically over for most of the MDIA. The season is not over, but it is certainly winding down.
The issue is- with the PCLL almost "going solo" for the rest of the season, how much more impact can there be on the rest of the polls? There won't be any more huge OOC games for the PCLL (if memory serves me correctly, I may be wrong) and the poll standings (for most of the league) are based off of an entire season's worth of play.
Long story short, PCLL, quit whining and move your tiny little states to the West coast. That's right, put them in your trunk and move to California. There's space. Problem solved!
4th MDIA Div. A Poll (4/6/05). Thoughts, Predictions, etc.
I agree with WaterBoy... the PCLL season and thus the USLIA season is not over. However, in regards to the BC v. UNH "rivalry" game, i feel that it was the premier game in the PCLL this season... There was a large amount of UNH fans at the game and the heckling was outrageous. BC did not show up for the game until the fourth quarter but that should not be an excuse. BC understands that this loss will hurt them in the rankings, but understands that their performance in the rest of the PCLL season, which is only half-way finished, and the PCLL playoffs will determine their USL-MDIA playoff fate. should be an intersting rest of the PCLL season with BC, UNH, Northeastern and the rest of the PCLL all making a bid for Blaine.

I feel it will be extremely difficult for BC to receive an at-large bid with their loss to UNH. In my personal opinion, I think that BC will fall to, nationally, a #12, 13 ranking. They will remain in that 10-13 team category throughout the remainder of the season until the nationals. #8-14 is entirely up for grabs for Blaine as there are many worthy teams that could argue, and more importantly earn, a legitmate case .

No one from the PCLL is whining, once again its teams will most likely rely on a AQ bid for the national tournament. While certainly not the permier conference the PCLL has proven its self with an agreessive, early season, out of of confernce scehdule. Other teams have dropped spots for fluke rivalry losses, as I believe BC will. But one loss and quite a few controling victories is no reason to drop them more than 2 or 3 spots.
If you would like to argue schedule, the PCLL made a concerted effort to challange nationally ranked teams this season and the results turned out fairly well.
With all that said the polls are more or less for show - prove it in Minnesota

Just for reference, the last part of that post was entirely in jest.
In no way did I mean to convey the message that the northeast should relocate to California. I apologize for my eggregious naivete. Please accept my humblest apology for this unspeakable suggestion.
Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada are also acceptable alternatives. My apologies to these states for excluding them from the original offering.
Prove it in Minnesota? How bout we MAKE it to Minnesota first. That's the issue.

BCLax16-
Looks like you had a good night out in Boston man....I think "liklleyl" and
Wihile" are my favorites.
Anyway, yeah unfortunately it doesn't look like anybody outside the PCLL believes we should have two teams making a showing in Minn this year. Should make the PCLL tourney that much more competetive. Still holding out on UNH to break the curse.

CATLAX MAN wrote:Regarding rivalry games, everyone understands that these games are played under heated conditions. However, if the #9 team is playing the #22 team, the ratings would seem to indicate that the #9 team should dominate if the ratings are correct. Since the #9 team lost to a much lower rated team, it is only right to question the validity of that ranking. There is no getting around that fact with rationalizations. Any other explanation of the reason for that loss is, again, irrelevant. There is no rivalry factor adjustment in poll voting in my mind, sorry.
In my opinion, if you have such a huge rivalry game such as UNH-BC, then rankings go out the window for that game. You could have BC playing New Haven (no offense to New Haven), if the two teams are huge rivals, then the game is going to be closer than if it were not a rivalry.
