Apparently I'm 43% gay. I "have scored right in the middle and [am] a happy and well adjusted hetero man"

Of course Sonny's the gayest. Being from south automatically adds 10% to the gayometer...

Question: The day after Sonny posts an article about the Dartmouth goalie who came out of the closet to his teammates and said that he (the goalie, not Sonny) was glad that the comradery found in lacrosse has made this decision of his easier, people start posting scores from a stupid test determining who's the "gayest." Don't you think thats a little immature?
Clearly poorly timed, at least. Some of you are the same people that have offered your prayers and support to the LU team in their recent tragedy, and patted yourselves on the back for saying how amazing the sport of lacrosse is because it brings us all together as "brothers" or "family" when we are on and off the field.
I'm not gay, (not that I have to prove that to you, nor take a stupid survey that tells me if I am or not) but I have friends who are...a few of which are afraid to come out because of garbage like this.
If we are going to promote the game of lacrosse as a fraternity or family-like institution then we certainly shouldn't start segregating or alienating people.
I'm not here to start a huge debate about this, nor call out any individual...just asking the question so you can all decide if a Topic like this is really suited for our Message Board.

I don't agree. I don't think this survery is in any way demeaning the lifestyle. It's not like you "lose" if you get a high percentage. Some people may take it that way but it isn't the case solely from the quiz.

You say you're not trying to start a big debate, but by posting that, you clearly will. So, as the person that started this thread, I'll respond.
The test was clearly tongue-in-cheek and meant to be humourous. I think by being able to look at things like this and laugh, acceptance of people that are gay, lesbian, bisexual, whatever will happen much easier. If some raging homophobic takes this "test" and finds out that he has 25% gay tendencies, maybe he'll realize that he's not so different afterall. Only by opening up dialogue on things like this can we truly accept everyone and be a true "fraternity". If you want to make sure things like this aren't discussed on this forum, aren't discussed in a public arena, all you're going to get is a lot of ignorance and fear.
Of course, that's the not the reason I posted this test on here. I just thought it was funny. I can also tell you that, as someone who is 43% gay, my gay side was not at all offended by this.

This is also a forum for "non-related lacrosse issues." I would not make a direct correlation to what was posted on the main forum with what goes on in the cooler.
Some people may take offense to it, but to those: lighten up. If Tim says he wasn't trying to make sport of anyone, then I believe him. I don't think he saw the article on the player that came out and said "How can I counteract that with a derrogatory and defaming remark/action? How about a gay test?" In no way would I be offended if a gay person or straight person posted a "How straight are you?" quiz on here.
Of course, that's the not the reason I posted this test on here. I just thought it was funny. I can also tell you that, as someone who is 43% gay, my gay side was not at all offended by this.

Tim, that was very well put. I see both sides of the arguement, which is why I did not post my score. I was interested to see the questions, so I did, and they were interesting. Nice to see someone actually took the time to build the survey. Overall, I think we'll be a better place when we stop judging people for doing anything, not just being gay. This survey may actually have a better home in a gay forum, for Tim's reasons above, but I'd hope we're not trying to hide it from ourselves. We might as well embrace the group, you're probably already doing it and you don't even know it.
1 action or choice in your life does not make who you are, and we should all be aware of that by now. Sometimes I wish it did, but my teammates don't remember any of the goals I've scored, no matter how big the game, but they always remember the goals I've missed, the game, and keep it in a collection of stupid crap Kyle's done.... That pile is pretty big, and makes up a large portion of who I am when I see my friends. Why take a different standard with anyone else because their gay?
