I was both disgusted and delighted at the same time. Wolf reminded me of Ben Stiller in Dodgeball, I couldn't stop thinking about steroids, and I loved all the injuries... seriously, the girl gets hurt within 2 minutes of the show starting, what is that? also, where did they get those guys for the second round?

Agreed.
It's like American Gladiators EXTREME.
It's really terrible. The early 90's high-tops and flat-tops AG is so much better.
I really liked the pyramid event when the gladiators throw the person down. But the bridge + wrecking balls sucks. The joust now lands you onto water. The eliminator is 4 miles long and they somehow ruined assault. Assault was every child nerf users' dream...and they killed it.
The only gladiator worth remembering is Wolf. Who appears to have his 1984 IROC camero parked out back...with the meth lab in the trunk.

Steroids? Hellga?? That's just a steady diet of protein shakes.
I didn't see the show though, just the interminable promos for it.

Look closely during the Joust and you will notice the Gladiators are wearing custom Brine SuperCrosse gloves...at least the men were.
The old 90's show actually utilized lacrosse equipment as well.

Seemed a little to scripted to me. Even more than pro wrestling. It was kind of ridiculous when the girl couldn't make it up the ramp when she was ahead by a minute or so. Entertaining none the less. I would also like to see Helga compete on both the men's and women's side.

As an avid AG watcher when I was a kid, I desperately wanted to get in to it, but found myself laughing at how ridiculously awful it was. I agree that the eliminator was WAY too long...even the commentator couldn't figure out anything to say by the time they made it to the balance beam. Speaking of, a balance beam? What?
I never made it to assault, but I can only imagine.
They could have done something so much better than this. I'm pretty disappointed, but I'm sure I'll find myself watching it tonight.
**I did notice lacrosse equipment squeaking its way in again and I do agree that Wolf does look like Ben Stiller in Dodgeball-hilarious. Also, that dude from Hawaii is the cousin of Dwayne Johnson aka "The Rock." I guess he does all his stunts...**

I don't know why, it makes no sense to me, and I can't explain it to save my life, but.... for some reason.... Hellga kinda does it for me.

Speaking of dodgeball...did anyone else notice that the ref for AG was in fact the ref from the Dodgeball movie minus the mustache? I absolutely LOVED AG to be honest. However, they could improve a couple of things, like the bridge ball thing that they totally ripped off from Extreme Elimination Challenge from Spike TV should just be cut out. Also, bring back the Speed Ball and the Roller Cages!
And Tim, I guess thats cool if you want a chick hat could snap your body in two. Its like a german beer girl from hell.

Maybe I spent too much time in Germany this year. But I will say, there is something very attractive about a woman that can bring you 11 one-litre mugs of beer to you in one trip.

It was corny, but you know what it was pretty cool and entertaining. The announcer got semi annoying but it still entertained me 10x more then anything else on TV at the time.
It looked like your standard MCL/ACL injury when it happened because you can see her knee give out once again after the initial injury.
The eliminator seemed smaller then I remember and truly less exciting, A sand pit?? you serious?

ESPN Covered the event.

Personally, I like the cheesey....
It was entertaining, and as long as I dont have to watch Desperate Housewives anymore, it will be on every Sunday night at my house...
But really, Powerball looks more intense than ever....I could watch that all day...maybe they should just play that over and over and over....

Its so lame. event the names are lame. Mayhem, Militia, Wolf? they all confuse me and suck. they re-used Siren cuz i remember that being the deaf girl from the 1st show. Wolf looks way too metro with his perfectly manicured beard and eye makeup and Titan looks like he's had more plastic surgery than any of the female gladiators. They actually give Hellga's measurements on the website as 6'1", 205 lbs.
I liked Zap, Blaze, Turbo, Sabre, Gemini. those were original and cool (i was 13 or so), but this thing is scripted and awful. the contenders have memorized lines to say after they've been bashed in the head and drop in water.
the girls are kinda hot, but that doesnt make up for it. i actually turned the channel to watch the I Love New York Reunion show and Dance Wars, but that was worse. and I think this is gonna run on Mondays against Prison Break and 24 (eventually)
