Any PHP gurus out there?

I am trying to find a way to parse a html page and output on my site the info I need.

i.e. Taking the NBA Standings off NBA.com or ESPN.com and formatting it in however I want to on my site.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this? Everything I read online makes no sense to me and seems vague.
