The BCS standings don't look too bad, although this doesn't mean I have become a fan by any means.

If either ASU or Oregon run the table on their remaining schedules (and they still have to play each other and USC), one of these Pac-10 teams has a decent shot to make the title game. The real UCLA showed up again on Saturday, and too bad for the Golden Bears. A couple weeks ago Cal was up to #2 and dreaming of a national championship opportunity, now they are in danger of falling completely out of the BCS standings with another conference loss. USC seems to have righted their ship with the dominating shutout at South Bend. The Pac-10 is still up for grabs and pretty darn competitive from top to bottom.

That big BC-VT game on Thursday will have huge BCS implications, and should be a dandy.

Can somebody please explain how/why South Carolina is still as high as they are on the BCS list with a second loss this week, and against weak and unranked Vandy???

Vandy is 4-3, losing to UGA, Alabama and Auburn. They've never been a pushover..they just often fall short. South Carolina is ranked 15 in the AP and 16 in the BCS with losses to LSU and Vandy.

South Florida lost to unranked Rutgers and they're still BCS top 10.

Also, Arizona State will be playing it's first ranked team of the season (Cal) in its 8th game...so we'll see how they handle that with a #4 ranked.

Good points, Joe... I didn't realize Vandy was that good this year.

ASU is pretty good, but they will have trouble with Cal and no way can they play with Oregon unless the Ducks self-destruct with a bunch of turnovers. The interesting match-up will be USC's great defense against Oregon's even greater offense later in the season. THAT will be a really interesting matchup.

Ty Willingham starting to take alot of criticism up here in Seattle, which I think is both understandable and also a little unfair. The Huskies are only 5-6 plays per game away from being decent, and we're still not as talented as the teams in the top half of the Pac-10. Still, I've seen us play USC, Ohio State, ASU, UCLA and Oregon already and despite getting beaten in all these games we're not THAT far away. I hope we give Coach W at least another full season to right the ship.

Alot of folks are angry that he tried an on-side kick against the Ducks on Saturday and gave them a short field when the game was still up for grabs. But I think we should have tried it every time LOL :lol:

Oregon was chewing up yards so easily against the Huskies' "defense" that I don't really think it mattered WHERE they started their drives. Only way to beat em was to keep the ball away from their offense.

For those who haven't seen him play yet, our Frosh QB Jake Locker is really something special, he should be a strong Heisman contender in a couple years.

I agree, but considering we used to be known as a "football school", the prospects of yet another losing season and no bowl appearance has the natives restless. At least we are a "basketball school" now and there's big hopes for Husky hoops in 2007-08.

By the way (and not that it matters), I believe that UW is the only DI program with African-American Head Coaches in both football and basketball...

Vanderbilt has been building off their success for the last couple years (success being relative) and has built a solid team top to bottom, they are certainly to be feared, and remember we are a week removed from Georgia feeling the need to dance on the Vandy "V" at midfield after they barely pulled out the win :roll:

Ohio State, Boston College, and Arizona State are all operating under a thorough campaign of deception through smoke and mirrors, I can't recall a time when the remaining undefeateds just seem so defeatable. I think all three teams have a very good chance to lose this weekend....you know what, I'm just gonna go ahead and call my shot here, all three will lose this weekend to Penn State, VA Tech, and Cal respectively

Which, if it comes to pass, would leave Kansas and Hawaii as the lone undefeated teams remaining. What are the odds, though, that we'll see the Jayhawks and the Rainbow Warriors playing for the mythical national title? LOL I'd say the odds would be.... NOT!
