Outrage of the Day (Hyperbole Edition)

Maybe not an outrage but I will never fly Southwest Airlines...

A 23-year-old college student claimed Friday that Southwest Airlines singled her out after a male flight attendant told her that her white denim miniskirt, high-heel sandals and sweater over a tank top was too "revealing."

A couple of interesting things about this. How is her place of employment relevant? She's not dressed in a Hooters uniform so why does it matter? I think it is also interesting that the flight attendant's reasoning was that SA is a family airline, huh? From the photo, this girl was covered more than what you see walking down the streets of Tallahassee every day let alone what you see at the pool/beach.

Does this girl have a case for harassment or something along those lines?

There's obviously some joke here about how this just proves the stereotype about male flight attendants (NTTAWWT). I'm just not sure what it is. And they obviously put the part about "Hooters" in the story to make sure we knew the woman was hot.

There was a time not long ago when people got dressed up when they traveled. That time is long gone, and I don't think we're necessarily worse off for it.

All I can say is that if the laws are such that the police don't have a problem with her attire, the airline probably shouldn't. However, the airline has every right to have its own dress code, and if they do--and if she somehow violated it--then she has no case (anymore than you'd have one if you tried to walk into a fine restaurant without a suit and were "humiliated" when they kicked you out).

Isn't Southwest the airline that, in it's infancy as a regional carrier in Texas, was notorious for having REALLY high standards for the appearance of their stewardesses and dressed them in uniforms that made the most of their "assets"?

BTW if she is a hooters waitress, what she's wearing is probaly a lot.

Dude, it's a friggin airplane.

The flight attendant was probably just fat, ugly and jealous...and until I see a picture of her....I am standing by my claim.

Well, I agree that having a strict dress code would be unreasonable. But I think as a private business they get to do that if they want to. And if they had one, they'd probably lose business.

1. Beta, it was a male flight attendant.

2. This is further proof that there is a culture war. Papa Bear is right. If this girl didn't look up to Britney Spears, she probably wouldn't dress like this.

1. A male flight attendant...I see. He most likely wanted to wear her clothes, and was jealous of her color coordination.

2. She also plays violent video games and hates America.

She wants to file a lawsuit huh... How much is your "mental anguish" worth to get told to cover up and put a blanket on? $50?

Apparently there's another girl who was wearing a low-cut top who had the same thing happen to her recently.

EDIT: here's the other story.
