Idiocracy

Postby Ravaging Beast on Mon Feb 26, 2007 3:05 am

Just watched a movie called Idiocracy. Stars Luke Wilson and a few actors from SNL. Put together by Mike Judge and Etan Cohen who also did Beavis and Butthead. It's good for an hour and a half of laughs. Two average Joes are frozen and wake up 500 in the future and turn out to be the smartest people in the world. The president is a former WWF wrester, they are running out of food because they water there crops with Gatorade, the number one TV show is "Oww, my balls" on the violence channel. I'm still laughing.

Not much publicity for the film, and it was also removed from the New Release section of 20th Century Fox's website. They kind of poke a lot of fun at some major corporations and Fox. So I thought I would let you guys know. Anyone else see the movie?

Ohh yeah I saw it. I was actually going to make this post but ya beat me to it.

The first 5 minutes of the movie are by far (IMHO) the funniest but frieghteningly enough very probable. I thought the movie was hilarious but the script (towards the end) was perhaps a bit too cheesy and not as exciting to hit the big screen. Still a movie that people should rent/see.

(The co-starring female was in the D in the Box SNL video, btw).
Barry Badrinath: Oh man, that's the most disgusting thing I've ever drank.
Landfill: I doubt that very much, playboy

That movie was a train wreck... A terrible train wreck... Now that's not always bad, but you can't watch that movie with any expectations or you'll be disappointed. I did enjoy the idea, when you're having a tough day, the concept isn't too far fetched (A dumber than average person today, is the smartest man alive 500 years from now due to advertising, globalization, etc.).

Anyway, I do think it's worth a watch if you have 90 minutes of your life to kill, but it is a lot like watching Vince Vaughn on the plane in Made, or Jon Favreau calling Nikki in Swingers... At times is really hurts, but you just can't look away.
