I just moved to Los Angeles.

Ok, I just moved to the Los Angeles area yesterday. If anyone else in the area could help me out, I'm looking for a quick briefing on the city. Specifically:

I'm currently living near Corona, but might move to the Huntington Beach / Newport Beach area. Anyone have recommendations on relatively inexpensive apartments for those areas? The closer to the beach the better.

Men's Leagues - I found http://www.sclax.com, but are there any leagues or anything going on for the spring?

Nightlife. Any info on bars/clubs in those two areas where I'd be living? I'm probably looking to bartend as well to help pay for the rent, so if you know of anything offhand, otherwise I'll just be cold-calling the managers.

I think that's a good start, you can pm me or post it here. Thanks in advance.

I can tell you more later but as for lacrosse. The Spring season starts up in March. I can give you the info on the team I play on, South Bay, as I know we are always looking for new people.

PM me.

No, that's why I added 'relatively'. A one-bedroom apartment that is $1400 is 'relatively' inexpensive compared with one that's $1800. :P

I'm from Newport. Its definitely a good time. I suggest you move as soon as possible. Plenty of nightlife. Check out these bars:

Balboa Saloon
Class of '47
Cabo Cantina
Sharky's
Stag Bar
Beach Ball
Blackie's
Blue Beat
Mutt Lynch's
Woddy's Wharf
The Cantina
Cassidy's
El Ranchito (Tuesdays)
Newport Beach Brewing Company
Malarky's
Rudy's
The Cannery
Bluewater Grill
The Alley

That should keep you busy for a while. Those are just the ones on the peninsula. Plenty more within a 10 mile radius.

Doesn't Rudy's have lacrosse sticks as handles on the front door? Also, that field down on the pennisula could be the greatest field to ever play on, talk about a view.

Yeah, they are the coolest door knobs. I think the owners are Chapman Lax alums. There are always Chapman lax players there.

Thanks for all the help.

This first week on the left coast has just reinforced my experiences of how small and generous the lacrosse world is.
