Lake Superior State University's Annual Banished Words List
Posted: Mon Jan 01, 2007 12:55 pmLake Superior State University has been compiling the list since 1976 to attract publicity. This year, LSSU released its annual "List of words and phrases banished from the Queen's English for misuse, overuse, and general uselessness.

One of the banished words is "truthiness" popularized by Stephen Colbert. Ironically, that word was selected as the word that best summed up 2006 in an online survey by dictionary publisher Merriam-Webster.
