I am both interested and cautious at the same time after reading what President Hosni Murbrak of Egypt announced that he would ask for a constiutional amendment in allowing the opposition to run for the Presidency of Egypt. We have see how the elections went in West Bank/Gaza (Palestine) and in Iraq. I understand that there were some limited elections in Saudi Arabia.

While encouraging, Murbarak has a long history of watering down proposed democratic reforms to protect his own position. Any real opposition candidate of any consequence is rotting in jail, plus Mubarak has been grooming his son Gamal to take his place. We'll have to see how sincere he really is.
