The president-elect of the California Bar Association is attempting to introduce a code of civility for that state's attorneys. In recognizing that such a thing is unenforceable he nonetheless offers the following in describing an "it never hurts to try" attitude:
While he knows that lawyers could simply ignore the code, he believes pressure from the State Bar and local bar associations could make the difference.
"It's like an enema for a dead person," Sloan said. "It might not help, but it won't hurt. But I really do think it will help."
