This is just a bad deal and a no-win situation for everyone. However, I do question why the replay official was suspended if the supervisor admits there was only one angle for replay to judge. If that is the case, it wasn't the replay officials fault. Either that or someone isn't telling us the truth.

I didn't think fans could get any more disreputable than all the Seahawk faithful, but I stand corrected. What really makes me upset is how a president of such a "presitigious" university can make himself look like an idiot for adding his insight on the matter. Not to mention the now reconsideration of OK playing UW in 2008 with Pac-10 officials.
Between this and the $165 M donation to Oklahoma State for their football program, what is going on in that state?!

Well said my man. Why isn't the AD piping up about this? You would think if Oklahoma was going to file a grievance, he would be the appropriate person to do so. Check out what Pat Forde from ESPN said about OU's prez:

I think you guys are losing sight of the fact that, whether right or wrong, OU football is the face of the state. OU could have 5 Goldwater recipients a year, and if they ain't winning at least 10 games, OU alumni and boosters won't be happy. People say Kelvin Sampson left because of his infractions...no. He left because no one supported OU basketball, a consistent top 15 team for at least 5 years. It's true that OU wasn't on the fast track to the National Title game, nor a BCS game. But if they beat Oregon (which they did, but we won't get into that any further), they're one victory over Texas away from Big 12 South champs. If (and I stress if) they win 10 straight, and as Big 12 champs don't get into the National Championship (and another 1-loss team does), what will you say then? It's all about the benjamins, and that loss could easily cost OU quite a few. Imagine if your team got jobbed like that.

Well, I was going to say the same thing you did, but everybody would jump all over me because I'm a crazy Californian and would be stereotyping other parts of the country if I said so. It's plain as day to me that certain parts of the country and universities take sports more seriously than others. I can't say for certainty, but I would imagine if Cal were to experience a similar fate as Oklahoma, people would be up in arms no doubt, and the AD would issue a letter excoriating the officials, etc. However, there is no way in hell the president would cause such an uproar over a football game. In doing so, OU's president is ignoring a portion of the student body who could care less about football (if such people exist in Oklahoma, I don't know) and placing its importance above the primary reason for having a university: LEARNING!

Just read that OU is thinking about cancelling its game with the University of Washington in the fall of 2008 if Pac-10 does not change its policy on using its officials for non-conference games.
Can a conference dictate to another conference on what it should or should not do? Would that be crossing the line?

Geez. Is OU an 8-year-old kid? What's next? "My daddy can beat up your daddy!"

In Rick Reilly's last article, he spoke about the OK State BP tycoon and his donation. At the end of the article, he asked a psychology professor (I believe) what he thought about the donatoin, the families that had to move as a result of the new indoor facility, and the overall effect of the whole thing. Needless to say, he wasn't too happy stating that some educational facilities have hit rock bottom and were, essentially, working out of basements and extremely poor conditions--I can only imagine. I can't believe the emphasis on football over education here. However, having attended a university where college basketball dominated and generated cash flow, I can say that the basketball program's successes were seen ALL OVER campus. The state of GU skyrocketed as a direct result from our basketball team's success. I won't go in to how many remodels and facelifts the campus has seen because there were so many. It's too bad OK state isn't the same...especially with that kind of money.

I've had many personal friends who have complained about the educational facilities at OSU. Their housing for non-athletes pales in comparison to the proposed "athletic village" that Pickens wants up and running before he croaks. And for those who don't know, T. Boone Pickens is probably the most ruthless oil baron this nation has ever known. Smart, but ruthless.

I highly doubt OU's gonna cancel the game @ washington...thas just stupid if you ask me...Only reason i can think of why they said that was just to tell the pac-10 how pissed we were in getting screwed over. yes as a sooner i was pissed at the conclusion and the reason why...but hey thats just the game, and people make mistakes. that and if our defense wasnt bipolar that'd help too...
To be honest, im fed up with this whole thing, A mistake was made, heck the guy even came out and said he screwed up and took the year off (I respect that, not many people do that it seems), we lost, done deal, movin on
The thing with OSU and Pickens, OSU guys are good people, and i've heard that their education sucks there...kinda crazy they put all the money into a team that gets stomped by houston[/img]
