Video on the web

Postby Jay Wisnieski on Sun Jul 23, 2006 6:23 pm

I was wondering if anyone on the forums knows of a way to save a video clip from a website to your hard drive. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as "Right Click, then Save As". This clip is a .wmv file, but it plays inside of a media player application, and when you click "Save As" on the link to the clip, it tries to save it as a .html file. Any help would be great. Thanks.

This video is intentionally a "streaming" video. They don't want you to be able to save it to your hard drive.

Who told you?

No, a friend of mine is an aspiring pro wrestler, and he recently got to be in a match on WWE Heat, a show only televised on the internet. Even though he was assigned the role of "guy who gets the crap beat out of him", I still wanted to save that match on my computer, so I was wondering if there was a way to circumvent the "video in a media player" thing.

If the video is truly streaming in the media player, i don't think there is a way to save it. But sometimes video clips get downloaded into your temporary internet files cache folder and you can save/move it to anywhere on your computer from there.

I didn't want to use the wrestling lingo for those who wouldn't know what "jobber" means.

I still do. I know it's stupid and awful, but I have to waste my time on something.
