I hope he is okay, but I will mention that I am a little disappointed in his choice of motorcycle (though I am sure he owns several). The footage on ESPN showed a mauled silver Crotch-Rocket, I always thought of Big Ben as a Harley or a Chopper man.

I'm sure he thought of himself as invincible - but what was he thinking? How do the Steelers allow this under his contract?
I liked motorcyles as a young lad, but a good friend is an orthopedic surgeon, and he just shakes his head when he sees someone acting stupid on one. "I'm the one that has to put them back together" was his comment - he sees the end result that most of us never will.
Michigan just removed the helmet law in the state last week, while having a recent Click It or Ticket campaign. How do you reconcile that? I'm in support of personal choice, but the cost to society is that we end up picking up the medical tab for the quadrepelegics that result from bike crashes.
First, I hope Big Ben comes out OK. I have no idea how severe his injuries are, and if his football career is over.

I know that sometimes my brother doesnt wear his helmet when riding his motorcycle. But he understands the risk and I think has a living will set up. He would much rather be dead than a vegatable and a drain on our parents money. Granted that helmets do help, but obviously they arent a total enclosure like a car.

Instead of riding w/o a helmet and having a living will, wouldnt just wearing a helmet make a heck of a lot more sense?!?!?!

If the helmet saves him just enough to completely ruin his life, then I think he would rather not have it. But on the other hand, it might prevent him from being injured as much, being able to save him. Its his option and he has made his decision, which I respect.

Who is that? Oh yeah, I vaguely remember that whiner claiming that the Tennessee defence was out to kill him or something and that we goes to war. That was right after UT embarrassed Miami at home in 2003. Whatever happen to Kellen Winslow Jr.? Did he finally get to prove himself in Iraq or what? Or did he end up in Cleveland, fate probably worse than Iraq.

In the words of Sam Wyche (brother of UT alum Bubba Wyche), "You don't live in Cleveland..."

When my sister did a rotation through the ER, the prevailing opinion was that helmets on the motorcycle riders they encountered greatly assisted in the identification process.

I thought I could get away from this story on the boards. I guess not. Of course it was breaking news here in Pittsburgh, and breaking news all damn day. I love the Stillers, but man! They just kept replaying the Bradshaw tape of him blasting Big Ben about not wearing a helmet. I guess Ronney ( the Steelers owner) made Bradshaw park the corvette back in the day.
