Transgendered Bathrooms, Vietnam Party Poopers

A task force at Colorado University in Boulder is recommending that the school convert more bathrooms into unisex facilities in order to prevent discrimination against "gender queer" individuals on campus, according to the Daily Camera.

The Transgender-Gender Queer task force says more "all-gendered," multi-stall bathrooms need to be created. Currently, there is only one outside CU's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center, and a handful in the dorms dorms and classroom buildings.

How far are we willing to go to make sure that everyone is happy?

I just don't understand this world anymore. So a man who thinks he should be a woman should get to use the women's bathroom. I can see this causing all kinds of problems. I don't think any woman wants a guy in their bathroom, regardless of sexual orientation.

this is crazy, but this actually happened at my last company. There was a guy, who either had a sex change or was dressing like a woman, that worked in another department. He insisted on being allowed to use the women's restroom and once lawyers got involved they finally did. The women stopped using the same restroom though. As to how far we should go? That is a very tough call, I don't think restrooms are a civil right, but if you can accomodate people I say accomodate them. Otherwise people should make do.

We go through this every so often when a man gets a sex-change then wants to play on the Women's PGA tour or on the Women's Tennis Association.

I will add one more thing. So if they start making the bathrooms Multisex bathrooms will they continue putting tampon dispensers in the bathroom.

speaking of multi sex bathrooms, I was at a club in Kansas City about 6 years ago that had...lets say a pretty diverse group of individuals. It was a pretty big place, about 500 people. I went to the bathroom and while I was at the urinal in walks this girl heading for the stall. I was taken aback a bit and paniced for a second thinking I had wandered into the women's room, but I looked at the door on the way out and it had a men's and women's symbol on the door and there was no other bathroom. Always thought that was strange. I imagine picking up a girl at the bar and when she says she needs to use the restroom I could say, "I'll go with you."

In my old job at a state hospital in Massachusetts, there is only one unisex bathroom on the unit, and there is always a sign outside the door letting someone know if the bathroom is occupied or not.
