I love you cheese heads, but to say that Wisconsin is the "new state of hockey" is laughable.

Laugh all you want, both Badger hockey teams are national champs. Hope you and the rest of Minnesota enjoyed watching our sheer awesomeness.

wisconsin stinks.....
they had the most seniors in the tourney...its about time they put something together.....
ask any hockey kid in the country...do i play for the University of Minnesota or University of Wisconsin????? Then tell me who they pick....9 times out of ten they would rather be gophers than badgers....
I've never even skated, and I know that one....

i just heard this maybe not even true, but the whole gopher womens first line and others on the team played in the olympics which made them ineligible for the season. So go ahead wisconson enjoy your "championship"......... The whole state of wisconsin is basically just a crappy suburb of minnesota anyways.

Horn, that was the dumbest comment I've ever seen on these boards.
If 9 kids out of 10 would choose to play for Minnesota, then why does Gilbert play for the Badgers? His teammate and my friend from highschool, Jack Skille, was drafted 6th overall by the NHL last year. He had scholarship offers from EVERY team that finished in the top 15 this season, and he chose the Badgers as well. Fact of the matter is, more and more stars want to play for a great school with a great coach and a sweet venue.
Nobody's saying that Minnesota isn't a great hockey state, but it is pretentious to believe that there's no talent elsewhere.
And Pinball, I believe your first liners were there when the Badger women won 2-0 and 6-2 in November, and 3-1 and 4-1 in Feb and early March.
And to all, where do you think Phil Kessel hails from?

Try this on for size
Pioneer Press 3-24 http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincitie ... 172477.htm wrote:The Gophers lost four players to the Olympics before the season began. In addition, they graduated their top two goalies. Although other top teams lost Olympians, nobody took as deep a hit as the Gophers, who lost their entire top line of Kelly Stephens, Natalie Darwitz and Krissy Wendell, and top defenseman Lyndsay Wall.

Fair enough. Now, what's your excuse for the men's team sucking it up this year?

inconsistent goaltending and their point scorers are young with little experience

Wisconsin is a great team. Tom Gilbert is on Wisconsin probably because Lucia deemed Judd Stevens more worthy of a scholarship offer to play D out of H.S. then Tommy because he was forced to play forward his senior year and was STILL a top 10 Mr. Hockey finalist I might add. Stevens was a huge bust and Gilbert is going pro shortly. It doesn't take a genious to figure out Lucia made a bad move. Wisco beat MN 3 out of 5, they deserved the title this year, but to say Wisconsin is the state of hockey is a lie. But, to say there is NO talent in Wisco is also a lie, Kessel, Skille etc...
The girls hockey issue, that sucks for them but all of those girls had won 2 titles and the Mrs. Hobey award too (wendell) as well as being 1st team all-americans the last couple of years, they deserved the olympics.

All I have to say is that the tide is changing....
Also, Mr. Horn... Wisconsin had 5 seniors on thier roster that skated during the tournament. MacMurchy, Gilbert, Licari, Burish, and Degenhardt. 2 from Canada, 2 from MN, and 2 from Wisconsin.
Don't forget to add Joe Pavelski to the list of top college hockey players from Wisconsin (2nd team AA).

Minnesota's very own Tom Gilbert also stated at the welcome back National Champions get together that "Wisonsin was the new state of hockey".... that might just tweak a few of ya.

I spent 4 years in Minnesota for college, I must say... you guys are all OBSESSED with Madison, Wisconsin. Anytime someone is going to Madison, every person drops what they're doing and goes with. It's like some kind of midwest Mecca or something.
But I still hate UWisconsin... and the state as a whole is a giant stumbling block between Minnesota and Chicago. I can't tell you how many times I've stopped in Tomah for gas.
