With four more hoops victories, The University of Texas will enjoy consecutive national championships in baseball, football, and basketball. Wonder if any other school has ever been done in the past? Probably not as there are only five schools to have won national titles in football and basketball (ever).

I am nearly certain that no University has ever won two NCAA Championships in two seperate sports during the same season. Someone may be abe to chime in and provide more specfic info.

I just re-read Sonny's original post and am not sure about "consecutive" Championships. That is a great question. :?

Last year the University of Denver won the National Championship in Skiing on March 12, 2005 (18th overall championship, finished 4th this year) and Men's Hockey on April 8th, 2005 (2nd Consecutive and 7th overall championship).

Granted it's not football, baseball and basketball, but it's a pretty good run.

Texas is trying to join this list....

The five D1 schools that have won a national championship in football and basketball:
UCLA, Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland, & Ohio State

But, Texas would be the only to win Championships in the same year.

Two more good trivia questions I heard today...

1. Name the only facility that has hosted a Super Bowl, a NCAA Final Four, and the BCS Football National Championship Game.

2. Since 1980, name the college that has produced a NBA Finals MVP, Super Bowl MVP, and a World Series MVP -- and name those 3 players.

I'm going to guess New Orleans. I know it's hosted a Super Bowl and the BCS game, so a Final Four was held there maybe?

The Superdome in New Orleans is correct.

Multiple Final Fours - 1987 (Indiana win's on Keith Smart's buzzer beater) - and 2003? (Syracuse & Carmelo Anthony beat Kansas) come to mind. BCS game in 2001 (Who could ever forget Mike Vick running wild on Florida State, only to come up a tad short in the fourth quarter?) - Multiple Super Bowls (too many to count).

well i just spent the last hour looking for the answer, but found nothing. I now know that Washington State had a World Series MVP and a Super Bowl MVP, but no NBA final MVP. USC had a World Series MVP and a Super Bowl MVP as well, but no NBA MVP for them either. And UCLA has a World Series MVP and an NBA MVP, but no Super Bowl MVP.

Probably LSU as well for the Super Bowl, World Series and NBA MVPs.
