Granted, I don't watch Jack Bauer nor "24", but I just read a brief excerpt from Yahoo! that this character, Edgar Stiles died of nerve gas. Is he really a fan favorite of the "24" aficionados??

Don't know about fan favorite. But yep, but was a shocker last night when he passed. Best part was when Bauer shot the ex-CTU agent's wife in the knee trying to extract information.

I really wish you would have given a spoiler alert at the start of this thread (or in the title). I haven't seen last night's episode yet....

My bad! You got a good point there. You are correct that the word "spoiler" should have been inserted in the title. I guess Sonny can fix that a little bit. I will try to remember to do that next time IF I ever have that seared in my memory.

I just saw the news flash from Yahoo and had to put this up in this forum since there are quite a good number of "24" fans.

When he shot the wife in the leg that was the best part of the entire season so far. Edgar was a tough one to lose. He will be missed. He just started getting sassy like Chloe. I felt Edgar always like Chloe and Chloe was always a jerk to him.

I agree that Edgar was a fan favorite. I'm on three 24 message groups, and the overwhelming response is just disbelief. I had the same reaction. When I saw him walk into the open room and see everyone in the office, I almost broke down. The look on Chloe's face was priceless as well.

Jack shooting Henderson's wife was also one of the highlights of any season. Throughout that whole interrogation I was thinking that he should shoot her in the leg, but didn't think he would. Then, out of the blue, he did it. Jack Bauer is the man.

I am a little worried about who will make the "ultimate sacrifice" in next week's episode. I hope it's Lynn. It's his fault it got to this point. If he had reported the stolen key card from the start, they could have made arrangements to be ready for someone trying to infiltrate the building. He's the only person in CTU I won't be sad to see die. I only wish they could get Logan in there as well.

i hope that Pres. Logan makes the ultimate sacrifice and Jack Bauer becomes the new PofUSA.

im a little sad that Edgar died, but wasnt he one of the bigger screw ups in CTU?

raise your hands if anyone thinks that if the current regime (real life) had a person like Jack Bauer we would have found Osama bin Laden already.

I know it was meant to be a joke, but you'd be surprised how many people have speculated about the Jack becoming President. Aside from the fact that it would be impossible from a sucession angle, I don't think he'd make a good president. Unless he found himself in a Harrison Ford in Air Force One type situation. He can do so much more in action than he can making the decisions from behind a desk.

What do you mean about Edgar being a screw up? All his big moments that I can think of have been him saving the day. For example, he was the one who was able to disarm all the nuclear bombs last season.
