Speaking of parties, did you know the average Super Bowl get-together has 17 people? And if we're speaking of parties, we might as well talk pizza. There are more pizzas sold on Super Bowl Sunday than any other day of the year. Pizza companies will have many commercials on that day. Domino's will deliver twice as many pizzas as they would on a normal Sunday, and their delivery drivers will travel four million miles that day. Super Bowl Sunday is the second-largest day of food consumption behind Thanksgiving.
Five writers have covered all 39 Super Bowls (Jerry Green, Jerry Izenberg, Dave Klein, Bob Oates and Edwin Pope). The list will shrink to four this year because Oates will remain in California after his wife was injured in a fall.
There are six photographers who have worked every Super Bowl: John Biever, Walter Iooss, Dick Raphael, Mickey Palmer, Steve Sabol and Tony Tomsic.
Another person who is not a writer or photographer but has attended all 39 Super Bowls is longtime Packer Lee Remmel, the team historian and former public-relations director.
