Great player left in a blowout game who's season (career?) was ended while trying to run up the score.
Don't think Kobe could land awkwardly as well?
Gotcha.... I didn't know that he was left in during a blow-out game.
That was definitely a nasty break though.
To me: offensive player means giving me the most opportunities to score. While Kobe is great at shooting; but does him being on the floor make everyone else better. I tend to think that it does the exact opposite. When AI scores 40, he is most likely to have a min. of 10-13 assists in that game; Kobe averages around 3-5 for his career and most of the nights it is 2-4. When AI steps out there one must think of his driving capability, outside shooting, bringing the ball upcourt and his outlet passes. With Kobe, you worry abou his pull-up jumper and his driving the basket. Also, you got to admit that when a guy takes that many shots for a team (68% of the Lakers shots, last time I heard) hes going to get points. AI gets the points and helps others... to me that is the best offensive player.
2004-05 season
AI points 30.7ppg assists 596
KB points 27.6ppg assists 398
I would rather have a guy post AI type numbers than KB numbers because more people are involved.
