If so, thumbs up or down?

Discuss. Just looking into things.

I have a Sidekick II, and I am really pleased with it. After looking at Treo 650, I never used it, but since it is a handheld, its portability may be somewhat easier than Sidekick II.

My service provider is T-Mobile, and the Sidekick II's technology is by hiphop by Danger, Inc. I pay 30 dollars per month plus the same amount for my wife who also uses Sidekick II. You can dial and call anyone on the Sidekick II, and it is 20 cents per call. You can take pictures, and the quality of the picture is okay.

Like bste_lax, it would be interesting to hear what someone has to say about Treo 650.

Matt,

I've messed around with this Sprint phone at Best Buy, and it has a very ingenious design. I liked the keyboard a lot, but can't tell you anything about coverage, etc.

Here are some reviews of the Treo 700 with Windows 5.0 OS. Check comment #49. http://gadgets.engadget.com/entry/1234000867059961

Before we decide what we are going to do, our company is going to wait for the Motorola Q. It is scheduled for release in 1Q06. http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/details/0,,113,00.html

DG:

Thanks for the information. I have a TREO 600, and am off Contract with Sprint this January - I thought I'd have to go with the Treo 650, but it seems like I'll have a lot of options.

Do any of you have experience with the Microsoft OS for phones? My firm's IT supervisor is leery.... Even though we have a Window's work environment.

Rob,

Actually, our IT consultant is the one who is pushing it. That's one of the reasons the Q looks good to him. We're going to exchange server (in the past we haven't needed it) and the Q is exchange compatible out of the box.

My friends with Treo phones are a mixed bag. Some love it, and some hate it. My brother and dad have blackberry phones, and seem to like them. It will be interesting to see how good the QWERTY keyboard on the Q is.

I've been a Palm user for the last 8 years, and have always liked my PDAs....but I've never used one of the convergence devices. One other friend of mine has the Samsung palm phone, and he loves it. It has a small screen, but also has a regular phone look (clamshell design).

You guys aren't the ones gluing rhinestones and fake "bling" on your sidekicks I hope, are you? The trend amazes me.

Rob, what do you think of the 600. I have one friend who had it and said he liked it but the phone portion of it was lacking for his taste but he has heard the 650 was better so he is looking into getting one in the future.
