It's hard to believe, but Iowa State's Dan McCarney is the dean of Big 12 coaches now with KSU's Snyder retiring.

A look at the original Big 12 Conference football coaches (1996) and what's become of them:
• School: Coach, Final year, Currently
• Baylor: Chuck Reedy, 1996, H.S. coach in South Carolina
• Kansas: Glen Mason, 1996, Head coach at Minnesota
• Nebraska: Tom Osborne, 1997, U.S. congressman from Nebraska
• Texas: John Mackovic, 1997, Columnist in Palm Springs, Calif.
• Oklahoma: John Blake, 1998, Assistant coach at Nebraska
• Colorado: Rick Neuheisel, 1998, QB coach for Baltimore Ravens
• Texas Tech: Spike Dykes, 1999, Retired, living in Horseshoe Bay
• Missouri: Larry Smith, 2000, NFL clinic instructor
• Oklahoma State: Bob Simmons, 2000, Assistant coach at Washington
• Texas A&M: R.C. Slocum, 2002, Special advisor to A&M president
• Kansas State: Bill Snyder, 2005, Final game last Saturday against Missouri
• Iowa State: Dan McCarney, Lone survivor of original cast

who's is more likely to lose their current job?

My vote goes to Rick Neuhisel, even though McCarney may not last too much longer when they keep choking in the big games.

Life after Tom Osborne:

Frank Solich (coach at Ohio University, before coach at Nebraska) was convicted of drunken driving when the cops found him slumping over the steering wheel.
