When it's all said and done - Some NCAA school (Illinois, U of North Dakota, ?) will appeal that issue all the way to the Supreme Court.

This issue seems to have hit the tipping point. I'm still struggling with an opinion on this topic. I wonder are my fellow Greeks offended by the Spartans. I know they are not! There is a way that mascots can bring positive attention to a topic. If painted in a positive light.
The terrapin at the University of Maryland is the genesis for constant reminders of how the species was abused, over harvested, and how its an endangered animal that needs our protection. Being the mascot of the University it has brought tons of interest pieces and knowledge to the general public. Somewhere there's a balance to be found.

The NCAA has been "hostile and abusive" to Illinois for decades.
