We had some severe weather south of Atlanta two days ago. A tornado ripped thru Atlanta Motor Speedway located in Hampton, GA. They are estimating $40 million dollars of damages!!

Take a look at these pictures:

This track hosts a NASCAR race in October, but they claim to be able to clean things up by then. We will see.

The tornado must have been confused and mistook the "luxury" boxes for a mobile home park! My favorite terms for mobile homes - "wobbly boxes" and "tornado magnets".

Don't clean it up an let Junior be the only car to drive. Maybe he will actually win a race this year.

Laxfan25, have you ever been to a NASCAR race. The infield is full of RVs. While they are not your typical mobile homes, for some of the ones you see they might as well be them. Some of those people really do come close to living out of those things.

No, I haven't had the pleasure. A couple yearas ago I did go to the Indy 500. The start was great when all the cars are cranking up (right in front of our seats), but after that you just saw a couple hundred yards of track with no idea where those cars stood. I could now say been there, done that, but the Indy is much better viewed on TV.
I'd love to go down to the track in Brooklyn MI sometime for a NASCAR event just to experience that.
When I was talking about mobile homes I was referring more to those up on blocks, and their propensity for often being located in the paths of twisters!

They also have some luxury condos at the AMS track. They were damaged too by the tornados/wind:

Laxfan, I'm about 20 minutes from the track, except on race days. There's a lot of traffic past my little church on those days.
