5.3 out east of LA.
I swear this state is going to break off and become it's own island/party boat.

Yeah that was a cool one. I've never seen analysts move so fast in their lives! We were all standing in the doorway by the second shake. Of course, here in LA it only felt like a 4.2...

I am too new to any of this so I am just confused half the time until someone says something. I slept through the one on Sunday while 2 people I work with and another friend who is in town for the weekend all woke up where ever they were.

Are y'all still having any aftershocks? I read that there was a 7.0 in Northern California, really off the coast, right?

It was downgraded to a 4.9. That sometimes happens after the seismologists have a chance to look at the data more closely. Lots of little ones (2's and 3's) still going on around that epicenter and the one from Sunday but nothing we can feel out here in LA.
A great site to check out these earthquakes is:
http://www.scec.org/earthquakes/index.html
They not only show the earthquakes but also have shake maps that show the strength of the quake in surrounding areas.
As for the 7.2 up Eureka way, aside from a few good sized waves there was no real tsunami damage. A few things got knocked off the shelves but that's about it.
That's all for now from your Geologist in residence...
