I was watching Discovery Channel tonight, and the program was about the deadliest jobs in the world. Tonight, it was about going out to angry seas catching Alaskan crabs in the Bering Sea. It showed a footage where a guy named Kevin, a greenhorn, was tossed overboard due to having trouble holding his footing on icy deck. However, the crew rushed to rescue him by pulling him out of Bering Sea. That was at night. That made me think that I am glad doing what I am doing at work, not being out there in the rough seas. On the other hand, I do admire their grit and toughness to battle the elements of the sea.

I watched the show last night too and let me tell you, it's no joke! I work on research ships and while we try to stick to the warm waters sometimes are work takes us to some nasty places. We did an experiment once where we inflated a paper bag to about the size of a person's head and threw it off the stern to see how long we could track it...it completely dissapeared in a matter of minutes. Those crabbers have one seriously crazy job!

I missed the show last night, but I know it will be on a few more times.
I use to spend my summers as a commercial salmon fisherman in British Columbia. Those crabbers make my experience (which i thought had some tense moments) look like a comlete joke.

the show is called "worlds deadlies jobs" but the one on alaskan crab fishing is the only episode.
they later came out with i think it was a 5 part series of alaskan crabfishing.
it was on marathon one afternoon. pretty interesting. as well as a different lifestyle. i wouldnt want it, but still
