Isn't time to take down the Bird Feeder?

Saw this "story" in blogland regarding illegal aliens receiving worker's comp benefits.....

I bought a bird feeder.

I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed.. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.

But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue.

Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table…everywhere.

Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud: They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food. After a while, I couldn’t even sit on my own back porch anymore.

I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be…quite, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now lets see…our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free education and allows anyone born here to be a automatic citizen.

Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services. Small apartments are housing 5 families. You have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor. Your child’s 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn’t speak English. Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box. I have to press “one” to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than “Old Glory” are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Maybe it’s time for the government to take down the bird feeder.

Oooh, that is a good analogy. Also, the birds grilled hamburgers and cleaned my house in exchange for the bird seed, which I bought from Home Depot (damn pigeons were stocking the shelves there, just ridiculous).

Stupid birds, what the hell are they doing here, anyway? Whatever enticed them to come to my yard in the first place? Why can't they follow the unwritten, contradictory rules I expect them to follow? They should stay in their own yard, because that's sure what I would do if I were in their place.

It breaks down long before trying to extend the analogy, since the author is suggesting HE is a human being, and the immigrants are MINDLESS ANIMALS.

I absolutely agree that immigration needs to be controlled far more than it is now. I think McCain is right that border controls ought to come first, or at the same time as other changes. If the author is saying that removing the birdfeeder means requiring the businesses who employ the immigrants for their own gain actually do the checks they are supposed to, great. If it means bringing them in to work and treating them as subhuman (think Chinese building railroads), forget it. Our journey to the darkside would be complete.

I suppose it comes down to a question of how attractive the moral high ground is to the U.S. If the "greatest nation in the world" deal has become propaganda, then by all means, go with the latter option. Personally, I'm ok with manipulating other people to ensure my survival, but I'd just as soon not blame them for for it.

That video is really well done, too.

Then came the poop.

Immigants refuse to use toilets. It's a known fact. Lousy immigants.

I agree that immigrants are the root of all of our problems. As someone said "you hear about how foreigners have taken their jobs, foreigners have taken their houses, foreigners are committing crimes, so you see there are socioeconomic concerns in the communities" - so this is the only real answer...

When are real Americans going to wake up and do the same?

Tim,
Are you and your people ready when Americans begin to invade, er migrate, en masse in the next 20 years for the water?

By the slew of sarcastic comments and no actual rebuttals, I would venture to say that no one here has any real disagreement with the fact that widespread immigration into a better country can cripple that country...and does nothing to solve the problems that caused the original immigrant's country to continue to be impoverished?

It's immigants. It's always been immigants. Even when it was bears, I knew it was immigants.

I will be waiting at the border in a lawn chair with a sling shot and a rock to combat the American invasion when it comes.

I think Dan Henrichs' response was appropriate and on topic.

I have a real disagreement with the basic premise of the original post. I find Sonnys' analogy to be beyond the pale. His post is simply flamebait, and is not intended to provoke a legitimate discussion.

In the parlance of our times, don't take the bait, don't feed the troll.

It wasn't a troll. It was to spark a legitimate discussion on the impact of illegal immigration in the US.

Beta,

The only thing about your point I might argue is the word cripple. Several European and Scandanavian countries are struggling with immigration both in terms of the unwashed masses and with the need to freshen the worker supply with young people as their population is aging too much to be sustainable. Maybe the caveat of "widespread" balanced this, but it is important to note why immigration is allowed in the first place. It isn't altruism.

Just to be sure, are you thinking that because immigration is a problem, it validates the embarassing thinking of the blogger? I didn't see that in what you wrote, so I don't want to overreact.

This analogy may not hold up very well either, but I see immigration problems as being a lot like the War on Drugs. If people didn't want sweet, sweet coke, then the dealers would find other widgets to sell. The new generation of kids are all entrepreneurs, or so I hear.

I respectfully disagree Sonny. A post meant to provoke an honest and forthcoming discussion would have some factual information, or would contain some meaningful substance. You simply posted a demeaning and derogatory analogy copied from some simple minded blog.

Troll:

(2) Posting derogatory messages about sensitive subjects on newsgroups and chat rooms to bait users into responding.

Flame:

In Internet parlance, a flame is a posting to a newsgroup, mailing list, or similar forum that attacks another person or group of people

Replace "cripple" with "damage" then.

Although...it wasn't immigration that caused the subprimes to faulter...I would place the majority of that blame on the home team that couldn't figure out that if you can't afford a loan..don't get it. Bah.

Just to be sure, are you thinking that because immigration is a problem, it validates the embarassing thinking of the blogger? I didn't see that in what you wrote, so I don't want to overreact.

I was referring to the issue of immigration control itself..and not the analogy that Sonny posted that was written by someone else.

I look at immigration in the way that the gumball theory does...and not with poop, birds and BBQ. Mmm BBQ.
