The Trivia Thread

The rules are simple: I post questions and you answer them. Ten questions will be posted each week. It has been over a year since my last couple of these, so let's see how we go. Each set will have a theme. Try to avoid using the Internets to answer them (It is more sporting that way).

Here we go:

NBA Rookies of the Year

1. Name the players that won the NBA ROY and MVP in the same season?

2. What former NBA ROYs went on to be named NBA Executive of the Year later in their careers?

3. What year was the first foreign born NBA ROY chosen? Give me the year, the player, the team and the country of birth.

4. What years were co-ROYs chosen? Who were they and what teams did they play for?

5. What NBA franchise has had the most NBA ROYs?

6. What team has had more NBA ROYs: Washington Wizards or L.A. Lakers?

7. Who is the only NBA ROY to have a felony conviction overturned?

8. Who is the only NBA ROY to win an NBA Championship in the same year?

9. Since 1959, twelve #1 draft picks have gone on to win the NBA ROY. Name them and the year they were drafted.

10. What college has produced the most NBA ROYs?

First of all, KnoxVegas this is an awesome thread with even awesomer questions, keep em coming!! I love the theme, and this one in particular!

My feeble attempts:

1. Name the players that won the NBA ROY and MVP in the same season?

Ummm, didn't Jim Rice do this in MLB? no idea in NBA

2. What former NBA ROYs went on to be named NBA Executive of the Year later in their careers?

Isaiah Thomas??? Rim shot!

3. What year was the first foreign born NBA ROY chosen? Give me the year, the player, the team and the country of birth.

Dunno, Gasol won it didn't he? He can't be the first.

4. What years were co-ROYs chosen? Who were they and what teams did they play for?

Elton Brand and Stevie Franchise tied a few years back. Played for Bulls and Rockets respectively.

5. What NBA franchise has had the most NBA ROYs?

I know Portland and Golden State each have several.

6. What team has had more NBA ROYs: Washington Wizards or L.A. Lakers?

My guess here is trick question, I know Wizards have 0, and I think Kareem was a rookie with Milwaukee, he didn't go to LA til later. So neither.

7. Who is the only NBA ROY to have a felony conviction overturned?

Doesn't it have to be Iverson??

8. Who is the only NBA ROY to win an NBA Championship in the same year?

This is VERY random, but I knew it from all the Brandon Roy hype around here, Keith Wilkes in 75 won a title and ROY with Golden State.

9. Since 1959, twelve #1 draft picks have gone on to win the NBA ROY. Name them and the year they were drafted.

I'll try a few of these:
03 - Lebron
97 - Duncan
96 - Iverson
93 - Webber
92 - Shaq

Don't know my years, but some other top picks with ROY seasons that come to mind are Ewing and Olajuwon and Kareem.

10. What college has produced the most NBA ROYs?

Couple guesses that I know have multiples (I can think of 2 each): Maryland, Wake Forest, and Duke and Georgetown.
