What's with all the buildings exploding??

A lot of news this evening about the explosion in Waukegan, IL - a day after we had the same thing happen here in Grand Rapids.

Check out picture 23 in this slide show - this was a three story building that appears to have had a natural gas buildup in the basement. It was just flattened. What's amazing is that there were 5 people in the building and all came out alive, most with minor injuries.
After it came down it caught fire soon after, as you can see vividly in picture 17. All of this was just a mile or so from my house.
