The Sweden/Paraguay game was intense, even I got bumps when the goal was netted that late in the game. Again, another good day in Germany. I wish Rooney would've tallied one for the Brit's, but I'm happy to see he's back and healthy (enough) to rock round 2.

Just read an article about that Crouch's goal in the England vs T&T game. Apparently he pulled Sancho's hair when he headed it and you couldn't see it from the angle in which most of the replay cameras showed. It looks pretty bad though... That combined with the wrongfully disallowed goal would have made it a 1-1 game!! Ridiculous.

I guess that would be different from Diego Maradona's "Hand of God" goal. :)

Just had a sneak preview:

Argentina drubbed Serbia & Montegero, 6-0. That may put pressure on the Netherlands as they will be playing Ivory Coast any minute.

you guys would be so proud, i did the exact opposite last night after the Mavs game. I couldve watched World Cup or MLL and i watched MLL. at least until Elimidate and Cheaters came on......

6-0 by Argentina is huge. you guys saw the future also, with Messi and Tevez scoring. At least the US wont finish last place after this drubbing. Serbia & Montenegro are the front-runners for that. ridiculous!
peace.

So far at this point, the Oranje is leading, 2-0 over Ivory Coast.
That is the first half way before half time.

UPDATE: Halftime now with the Netherlands leading 2-1 over CIV.

FINAL: NED 2 CIV 1

Next game is Mexico and Angola.

It looks like Argentina and Netherlands will advance to the knockout rounds.

Angola hanging tough with Mexico. Angola's goalie has made some incredible saves. 3 minutes of injury time to go and it is 0-0.

0-0 Final.

While watching MatchCast by Yahoo! Sports, it was fun reading Fan Chat on the bottom corner, reading play-by-play commentary on the right, and checking the stats on the left. I also was able to look at the live photos. Most of the comments in the Fan Chat were directed at Mexico for not scoring and others were saying that the game was "bad."

The tale of the tape on this game is:

Shots: Mexico 13 Angola 8

Shots on goal: Mexico 8 Angola 1

One guy from Angola was red-carded which meant Angola was left with 10 men with about 10 minutes left and still held on.

Just for those who have been watching WC lately, what do you think about the increase in yellow cards especially carding those for time wasting? Read that Franz Beckenbauer is really livid about that.

BB...

I agree way to many cards right now...espcially in the trini game yesterday....

Let them play!!!!

Also, Yahoo Match Cast is great, with the exception of the continual postings shredding on the teams playing by fans of others, I dont know how many Go England messages I saw durring the Argentina game today....

http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/stats/top10.html

For you Arsenal fans, you will be smiling and pleased that there are 15 players representing Arsenal who are playing in the World Cup. Followed by are 15 players representing Chelsea.

You can click on "Statistics" on the left side of the FIFA World Cup section of Yahoo and find out who has made saves, who has the most goals, who has the most yellow cards, etc. BTW, Angola and other team leads with 8 yellow cards.

I guess with the next 16 teams moving on to the knockout phase that the number of yc's (yellow cards) may decrease or would stay at the same level.

Yeah, way too many yellow cards in the T&T game... They should start being better with offsides, too many goals were scored that should have been disallowed (and goals that shouldnt have been were... but i guess that's ALWAYS happened... I personally think they should use tape if they want to disallow a goal).

Half time and Ghana is leading 1-0! What a great game on their part! I have to say though i'm pretty disgusted of how one sided the calls are going against Ghana's favor. The last break before the half was a very possible goal oppurtunity, 11 was slide tackled from behind, and not EVEN a yellow card. Ridiculous.

Both yellow cards for Ghana were a joke of officiating.

What about when Rosciky was brought down in the box, from behind, with no contact on the ball, and no penalty kick?

In the game between Portugal and Iran, there were a few questionable yellow cards given since some of the fouls were quite minor, not flagarant.
Some outstanding theatrics by both teams though.
