Oh My! Germany hits the post twice in a matter of seconds in the 90th minute and then wins 1-0 in injury time!

Yup, saw that in the FIFA World Cup commentary. With Boruc's receipt of yellow card for wasting time in getting the ball out, the Germans struck twice at the same time and then like sohotrightnow said, Germany won it in the injury time with Oliver Neuville's goal.

The stats are telling... Germany made about 15 or 17 shots with about 9 shots on goal while Poland only made 5 shots with 3 shots on goal.

RECAP:

Spain 4 Urkaine 0
Tunisia 2 Saudi Arabia 2
Germany 1 Poland 0

It was a pretty entertaining day in Germany, today. I didn't expect Spain to blow out Ukraine like they did. I didn't expect Tunisa to draw with the Saudi's. And I was on the edge of my seat at the end of the Ger/Pol game.

Anyone else read about the German Hooligans?

Thanks to futbol, those Euros can't always be looking down their noses at us. At least we haven't seen any bananas on the field or monkey calls...yet.

JosueSays wrote:Wow is all I can I say. Spain played a SUPERB game against a solid Ukraine (the first european team to qualify in a tough, tough group). As of yet, Spain looks better than any other team that has played. I think this is the year were Spain proves all those nay sayers wrong (unless something like what happened against South Korea, happens again which probably won't as the refs look a lot better this world cup)... What a great game!

And what about that Puyol? Best play of the game out of many good plays.

i saw most of this game and i kinda figured David Villa would break out. i was surprised that Raul was on the bench to start. and Puyol was awesome. Ukraine had some injuriy (spelling in tribute to the Ukraine players with those awkward spellings) problems with Andriy Shevchenko and Andriy Voronin. 4-0 was not expected.

I didnt even watch Tunisia v. Saudi Arabia. not interested.

i missed Germany v. Poland, but i heard it was exciting. i was moving today, which wasnt exciting.

tomorrow i have Ecuador, England, and Sweden. If England dont find a forward, then T&T could pull another 0-0 draw like they did with Sweden. the Swedes need a win to boost their hopes for the second round.
peace.

According to all the tabloids, Rooney's been given the green light to play so hopefully we'll be seeing some of him today. If you've never heard of him, tune into the England game today and check out their number 9. Granted he just came off a foot injury, but if he plays he will do something magnificient.

Yah, England will most likely do a lot better if they want to get a win from TT... I personally think they had a very, very bad game against Paraguay but if Rooney comes back I'm sure they'll have a much better game (hopefully). But I like T&T a lot and I hope they do well... Gotta go for this carribean teams! Speaking of which, I gotta go watch the game!

I'm looking at this T&T v. England game in the 65th minute and they are still deadlocked at 0-0. T&T are playing an excellent strategy and have even scared the Lions with goal chances. John Terry had to clear a header off the line. This is awesome.

Who woulda thought that Trinidad & Tobago would be the best team from the CONCACAF region (others are the USA, Mexico, and Costa Rica).
peace.

England won, 2-0 with Steven Gerrard's left-foot shot goal at the 91st minute. The first goal was a strong header done by Peter Crouch.

Brief stats on the game:

Shots: England 23
Trinidad & Tobago 7

Shots on goal: England 8
Trinidad & Tobago 3

England had possession of the ball for 62% while T&T had it for 38% of the time.

i guess i opened my big mouth a little too soon. im disappointed to see that T&T lost. im a fan of the english team, but i wouldve loved to see the nightmare hooligans go crazy and watch them fire the manager Sven Goran Erikkson before the 3rd match of the group.
peace.

Amazing cross, good goal by Crouch! Same goes for Gerrard...

However, T&T's goal should have counted!! HOw frustrating! It wasn't offsides and deserved to have been scored. Great play by Glen and an awesome finish, overall im disappointed that they didn't lose 2-1 instead of 2-0. Other than that i think they played a great game and will go on to win against Paraguay(good for them). Enjoy watching them play a lot.

Anyway, any perdictions for Paraguay and Sweden? Pretty sure Sweden will dominate, i've never been too impressed with Paraguay and they should have done better against England considering how awful they played in their first game (not to mention that own goal was pretty embarassing).

For the knockout stage, it looks like England, Germany, and Ecuador will advance.
