I am not the author of that list so I can't speak as to why Ted Kennedy was #1. You do know that an innocent woman DIED at Chappaquidick, right?
In any case, the Buck family got revenge on ol' Teddy when my little brother dropped an ice cream cone on his leg about 20 years ago at the Kennedy Center.
Rep.Foley
The recipient of Foley's IMs may have been over the age of 18 at the time.

Sounds like Foley is still a sicko. But he might not have actually committed a crime with regard to the highly publicized IM messages.

Believe it or not, in D.C, the age of consent is 16 (as it is in many states).
So, while I still think what he did is just plain wrong, it may not be illegal.
I have just emailed my congressmen (my condolences to the P.C. crowd) urging them to leverage the outrage surrounding this case to clarify and reinforce the laws protecting our children (up to at least the age of 18) from those who would prey upon them. I also urged them to adopt rules for ALL government employees to match the standards of Corporate America regarding inappropriate relationships and sexual harassment in the workplace.
How about the rest of you?
You are all great communicators and excellent debaters. Let's focus our collective will to drive change.

I think the same could be said for the young man that Laura Bush killed after she ran a stop sign and crashed into his car in 1963.
In May 2000, a two-page police report pertaining to a fatal accident that had taken place near Midland, Texas, in 1963 was made public. It contained the information that 17-year-old Laura Welch had run a stop sign, causing the death of the sole occupant of the vehicle hers had struck. According to that report, the future First Lady had been driving her Chevrolet sedan on a clear night shortly after 8 p.m. on 6 November 1963 when she entered an intersection without heeding the stop sign and there collided with the Corvair sedan driven by 17-year-old Michael Douglas. Also in the car with Laura Welch was a passenger, 17-year-old Judy Dykes.

Not to drift further off topic but those are absurdly different circumstances and in my opinion do not even warrant comparison.

You're right. Its more comparable to hearing about a congressman having inappropriate relations with teenage boys, discussing it with people in your own party, then never reporting it to the authorities.

Because that was not the point. The point is that in Stryker's post he refered to the innocent woman who died. Laura Bush killed an innocent man. I was not condemning or condoning either's actions before, during or after their accidents, just making a point of fact.
Now that it looks like Hastert is staying, with changes made to the ethics rules of Congress, the elections can go ahead as scheduled. I just hope we get a chance to celebrate with the $20 million appropriated for the National Day of Celebration planned for the end of fighting in Iraq.
The military's top generals have warned Iraq is on the cusp of a civil war and that U.S. troops must remain in large numbers until at least next spring. But if the winds suddenly blow a different direction, Congress is ready to celebrate with a $20 million victory party.
Lawmakers included language in this year's defense spending bill, approved last week, allowing them to spend the money. The funds for "commemoration of success" in Iraq and Afghanistan were originally tucked into last year's defense measure, but they went unspent amid an uptick in violence in both countries that forced the Pentagon to extend tours of duty for thousands of troops.

You have proof of that the GOP covered up illegal activity? I'd love to see that.

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. The bottom line is, Fox News is doing their best to deflect attention away from Foley and that is inexcusable. You can claim that NBC, MSNBC, etc., etc., etc. represent the liberal media but they would never sink so low as to "accidentally" label a Democrat a Republican, nor would their "talking heads" bring up past incidents of Republican indiscretions to deflect attention away from the real matter (a damn near senior citizen is flirting with a 16 year old boy!!!) as Sean Hannity was so kind to do.
Hannity: I don't mean to bring Bill Clinton into this, and Lewinsky was 19....
No Sean, she was 22, and you DID MEAN to bring him into this discussion.
So, either Fox News gladly participates in 1 ) partisan hackery and skullduggery or 2) shoddy journalism. Those are your choices...take 'em or leave 'em.

Monica Lewinsky had more president in her than George Bush ever will.

If you think the people that knew about Foley's actions and did nothing didn't do anything wrong (whether what they did was legal or not), you're not even worth talking to about this. There's a difference between being loyal to your side, and being blind.
