It looks like they both are leaning in to kiss, but that neither wants to dare open his or her mouth for fear of "the tongue".

Just like Clinton served out his term as President.......
Clinton was impeached by the House but not convicted by the Senate. Vitter and Craig were not censured by their peers in Congress.
The Mann Act is what Spitzer will really be up against. A history:
The United States White-Slave Traffic Act of 1910 prohibited white slavery. It also banned the interstate transport of females for “immoral purposes.” Its primary stated intent was to address prostitution, immorality, and human trafficking. The act is better known as the Mann Act, after James Robert Mann, an American lawmaker.

Gotta love ol' Jim Crow laws finding new life, huh?
The Long, Colorful History of the Mann Act
Enacted during a time of great change and "moral panic," the Mann Act was originally designed to combat forced prostitution. The law, however, has been applied broadly over the years and, critics say, used as a tool of political persecution and even blackmail. In the past century, thousands of people have been prosecuted under the Mann Act, including celebrities such as Charlie Chaplin, Frank Lloyd Wright, Chuck Berry and Jack Johnson.

CNN.com is reporting that he will step down this morning at 11:30am. After watching Jim Cramer (college friend of Spitzer and his wife) choke up when asked about Spitzer's dalliance, I am finally ready for our long national nightmare to be over.
The question I have for all the wanna-be Matlocks and real lawyers out there: If my girlfriend in college attended school in a different state and I flew her in for formal and paid for her expenses and we had sex, was I in violation of the Mann Act? This is hypothetical, of course.

Only if you wear a dress and she calls you Susan. Then you would be in violation of the womann Act.

We just talked about this in Con Law (to an extent). We are discussing the commerce clause and the Mann Act came up because that was the power that Congress cited when enacting the law. It only deals with prostitution, not fornication, that is one of the chief elements of the crime. If you flew her in to pimp her out to your fraternity brothers, then you would be in violation of the Mann Act. Otherwise your just a regular fornicator like the rest of us unmarried slouches.
I know there's different hypotheticals that you could draw up, what if it wasn't your gf and just a interstate call girl, or how would they know if it was your gf or not? The Fed Govt isn't walking around airports looking for girls being picked up by guys and asking who paid for the trip and what not, I would have to assume they (Fed) do an extensive investigation (ie stings/stakeouts/wire taps) before they would move in on a prostitution ring.
On another note the lyrics of Chef from South Park:
"But a prostitute is someone who would love you
No matter who you are, or what you look like.
Yes, it's true, children.
That's not why you pay a prostitute,
No, you don't pay her to stay, you pay her to leave afterwards.
That's why I pays a lot for prostitutes!
Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. James Taylor.
James Taylor: A prostitute is like any other woman
They all trade somethin' for sex and they do it well."

She seems to have a great personality.
Happy to see that one hypocrite has resigned. How about Vitter & Craig? Shouldn't Vitter be held to the same standards seeing how the situtation is very similar?

C'mon, that's not how politics works in the U.S. of A. When a Democrat commits any sleazy act in his personal life the GOP impeaches or (in this Spitzer case) threatens immediately to impeach. But when:
An adulterous Newt Gingrich serves divorce papers to his bedridden cancer-stricken wife so he can marry his mistress, or
Vitter is caught canoodling with prostitutes, or
Craig is caught propositioning for B.J.s in a men's room, or
Mark Foley (one of the leading Congressional opponents of child pornography) is exposed for propostioning boys on the internet, or
Bob Allen (McCain's Florida campaign chairman) offers an undercover cop $20 for oral sex and then claims he was only did so because he was afraid of the "big burly black man" ...
the Republican playbook says you immediately change the subject and start screaming: "Ted Kennedy!" or "Barney Frank!"

Wish - while I agree with your politics, I think the Donkeys and Elephants are equal opportunity offenders. Consequences depend on the tolerance of the populance and zeitgeist of the media at the time. Sometimes they get winked at and hands slapped, sometimes they get run out of town tarred & feathered (who was that guy who's intern went missing? Congdon?)
Spitzer can't plead ignorance of the Mann Act, or ignorance of "smurfing" funds to shell companies, or that politicians of all stripes have their financial affairs scrutinized closely for bribery, blackmail, and other problems. Democrat or Republican, if any former Attorney General tried that, the feds would be all over it.
His wife seems like a nice lady.. She should get a very nice financial settlement in the divorce and go marry someone who will treat her decently.
