In this season's installment of SEC vs. Pac-10, Tennessee makes the trip back to Cali to take on UCLA and Georgia leaves the comfort of the Hedges for the first time in years to take on ASU. What say the SEC honks about these two games?? I gotta gives tons of credit to Tennessee for making the trip in back to back years, ballsy and it could pay off against a regrouping UCLA team under Neuhisel.

Tenn is up for grabs this year I don't know if their new QB will be any good, which might shut down arian foster as well. It still has to be enough to beat UCLA though...and I fully expect Georgia to blow out ASU but that's an easy pick since UGA will probably be in the top 5 when they play.

The Big Ten/Pac 10 has much better matchups and I can't wait to see OSU play USC. I see the Pac 10 taking this series 3-1 though.

1) what do you all think our new coach Bo Pelini will do with the husker program? Raise it back to a nationally respected program, or run it into greater shambles than our past seasons?

2) Another season is quickly approaching and with the Notre Dame squad coming off another bad season, how high in the top twenty do you all think they will be placed in the pre-season rankings? my guess....16th.

Also in a possibly blossoming rivalry, the Big Ten and Pac 10 go together in a few great matchups. Michigan State comes to Cal and Ohio State comes to USC. Oregon State goes to Penn State and Oregon goes to Purdue. I think the Pac-10 could seriously come close to sweeping this group of games, but the OSU game at PSU would probably be the most in doubt.

Tennessee only does these trips for recruiting. The Vols are big on National Recruiting (biggest for this in the SEC), ecspecially getting the west coast kids to come to UT (Erik Ainge among other) as the state of Tennessee isn't really known for producing alot of talent on the high school level.. I believe in a few years they are going back out to Oregon. Very smart on their part.

He won a Sugar, a Cotton and game from behind to lead the Big Orange to a tie with Colorado (they were good way, way back in 1990. Honest!) in the Kick Off Classic.

As for west coast recruiting, that brought us the greatest QB in Tennessee history, Casey Claussen. Claussen not only won in Gainesville but beat the Gators at home as well. Manning never did that. Come to think of it, he never beat Florida in four attempts. But we move on.

The return to the Rose Bowl will mark the 15th anniversary of the Rose Bowl Massacre, where 5th year senior Jerry "The General" Colquitt when down on the 7th play of the game and was replaced by Todd Helton, Brandon Stewart and the aforementioned Manning made his appearance.

RE: Georgia at Arizona State, Sept. 20th 2008

So I did some research, and in the last 43 years the Georgia Bulldogs have left the friendly confines of SEC country a grand total of two times. (SEC Country defined as any state home to an SEC team) That includes all regular season games and bowl games, and one of the two trips beyond the Central Time Zone was the 2000 Honolulu Bowl vs. Virginia which Georgia won, but this point is somewhat irrelevant as it was against an ACC opponent.

In those 23 years they played two Pac-10 opponents, the 1987 Oregon State Beavers who went 2-9 and lost in Athens 41-7 and the 1985 Arizona Wildcats who they tied 13-13 in El Paso in the Sun Bowl. (Haven't played a Pac-10 opponent since 1987!!!!)

When the Bulldogs travel to Tempe this September, it will truly be uncharted waters for this program. The last time this program traveled further west than Fayetteville, AR?? 1960 when they traveled to Los Angeles to take on USC and subsequently lost 10-3. Arizona State comes off a great season last year under Erickson who knows a thing or two about knocking off overconfident teams in Tempe (see: 2001 Fiesta Bowl). I think the Sun Devils pull off the upset and turn SEC bloggers and messageboarders upside down until the next time the Dogs travel to the west coast in 2040.

arkansas and tennessee are the only sec teams i can think of that travelled outside of SEC country recently....i'm positive i'm missing some though....LSU maybe?

Auburn had a home-at-home with USC about 2002 & 2003. Arkansas did the same a few years later. Alabama has travelled to Hawai'i, as late as last season I believe. Also, I think that they had a home-at-home with BYU as well.
